Excellent Choice for an Eight Steak Knife Set on a Countertop
I needed a compact but sturdy block just for my recently purchased Legendary Chef steak knives (purchased two sets of four knives each for total of eight). I did not want to throw the knives into a drawer where they could get damaged by mingling with a variety of other items. I also have limited countertop space in a small kitchen. This compact, simple decent looking and economical block seems to be a great choice in this regard. It's simple and about as small as its going to get for a block to store eight steak knives against the wall on my counter. They fit in great and look like they were custom selected to go together. For the money, I can't imagine a better choice. This block has been going in and out of stock currently so be patient and keep an eye on it.

Love this and saved a whole drawer for other utensiles ...
Love this and saved a whole drawer for other utensilesDivorce had the 'ex' get all of 'my' good knives...so rebuilding with Goodwill knives and SmileAmazon knives.Reshaped them and put razor edges (am an ex-butcher from working at mom'n dad's grocery/butcher shop days). Found a complete set of MAC knives (Japanese and one of the first Sushi knives bought back in the 70's) that were in very, very sad shape....but no more because of the Japanese Edge I've ground into them (right hand, one sided grind)These used to be on a drawer holder that took the whole drawer and now in a much smaller foot print. Biggie is that they are now on the counter and don't have to open the drawer anymore. The serrated bread knife, cleavers and longer butcher steak knives now reside in a fraction of that old drawer, as they are too longPlus keeps all these knives from getting buggered up by relatives/friends over for dinner and helping wash after the meal. They are not sharp knife kind of folks, so they let the knife edge touch...to dull and ding my knife edges.Update...added another Sushi knife and took a picture of where it is in the kitchen. It gets moved around depending on what am cooking. Normally next to the utensil holders and on top of the WOK

Quality was very good
This block was as advertised and looks great. I have no cons, but I do wish it was offered with a darker wood stain like oak, since this looks like the natural wood . It IS sealed with a nice satin-type poly, (I imagine it is polyurethane). One reason I bought this one, even though it was about $2.00 more, was the depth, width and length of the knife slots. Be aware of your knife's blade specs. i.e. thickness, width and length. My knives would have been a snug fit in that cheaper block since my knives are 2mm thick, This is a nice quality product at a reasonable price.!

Perfect Fit!!
We bought some knives to match our new set and needed a block to store them. This worked perfectly and makes it much easier to store safely ensures their edge will stay sharp.

Works well but.............
our knives sit very loosely within the slots. Not exactly what we were looking for (couldn't find) but entirely satisfactory for our purposes. We use it lying down in a drawer so suspect the "looseness" mentioned would NOT be a problem as a standing, on-counter holder.

Needed a basic steak knife block...
We got an extra set of knives, and I needed a knife block to hold them. This block is a good balance between value and looks. It's a nice looking wooden block, and the slots are wide enough to hold my larger steak knives. I am happy with the purchase. I don't know how long the glue will last, if it will fall apart at the seams, but so far it's been good and looks good.

Works!
Purchased to store new Messermeister Avanta steak knives which have 5" blades. This block is tall enough to handle the longer blades, nicely balanced and nicely finished.

Will only work with knifes with blades that are smaller then 1 inch.
I bought it for a knife set which has a 1 1/4" wide blade and they didn't fit. But i will use with another set I have. The block looks beautiful on the kitchen counter.

and be easy to identify the knifes
I was searching for a knife block which would take up less space than my existing knife block, fit different brands of blades, and be easy to identify the knifes. Generally this does the job well - it is compact and can fit quite a few knives, and unlike a magnetic strip there is no danger of damaging the blades. I keep it on its side in a drawer to keep the worktop clear, something that would be hard to do with some of the bulkier blocks. The downsides are that arranging the blades so that the handles don’t get in the way of each other can be a bit awkward, it only fits blades so no room for a steel sharpener, and it doesn’t look as impressive as a more traditional knife block but they are minor things given the pros of this design for me. So if you are looking for a universal knife block which makes identifying the knives easy and doesn’t take up too much space then this is definitely worth a look

Very handy knife block
Everybody keeps saying "But it'll be top heavy and fall over!". Nope! Not at all, the base is weighted and the container is deep, so the knives sit well inside, with no blade exposed and the whole thing is soundly sat on the work surface. When I need one of the nine knives I have comfortably sitting in there, it's easy to reach and safely hold to. while I withdraw the blade I need.

Better than a solid block
Very happy with my purchase. I was going to buy one of those universal blocks that holds any knife shape but checked this one out and read the reviews which changed my mind. Very happy I did. It’s sturdy, holds all my knives well including a wide chopper and 2 pairs of scissors. It’s harder to get them in but with a little persuasion they do! Like that I can see which knife is which without having to get them out, and my longest knife doesn’t touch the bottom which I thought it would. Would definitely recommend.

Safe and secure knives
This is a sturdy knife storage unit, and even with 13 knives in it remains very stable and manoeuvreable. It takes up much less worktop space than my previous wooden knifeblock, which incidentally only held 5 knives. The double layer slot design holds the knives perfectly and there is no crossover of blades at all. The clear barrel is great for seeing the blades, making knife selection quick and simple. I love this product because it works! I wonder if it would be possible to manufacture the base and top of the unit in a colour other than black - cream and red spring to mind - as this would enhance its appeal to customers who like their equipment to colour tone with decor and units. Just a thought. Whatever the colour, this is a brilliant buy and heartily recommended.

Does the job.
Arrived on time !I got all of 12 of my sharpest knives in there. I was a little skeptical about the cylindrical shape but it has not fallen over and I have a feeling if it did those knives would stay put as they are held securely. My only criticism is I find the price a little high. But it does what it says.
