NPW W5400 Finger-Printing Art Set, Classic

I have a four year old who loves this kit. The concept is very simple, a set of stamps to which you add the "body" or "heads" using your fingerprint. The fingerprinting is fun, but where it becomes a joy is in the stamps - they are simple body parts - hands, feet, puppy & cat faces etc. They are so simple, but add a "fancy" look to drawings or fingerprints. It encourages my daughter to use her imagination to fill in the blanks. She has had so much more fun with this set than other stamp sets which have more complicated stamps - those end up just being used once, the resulting stamp is colored in and that is the end of her interest. The stamp/fingerprint ink in this kit is super washable which is good since it ends up on every finger!The kit includes a bunch of stamps, a few one inch washable ink pads, colored pencils and a durable metal box. It doesn't include paper so be sure to have paper available when giving it to a child!

My daughter received this as a gift and we both were delighted. Something new and different than what we're accustom to seeing and/or puchasing from local chain stores. My daughter very much enjoys coloring, painting, fingerpaints, etc. It inspired me to repeat, and give as a gift to the next birthday party she was invited to. Her classmate shares the same interests and loves anything to do with art. Thank goodness I started my shopping early enought that it allowed me locate online through Amazon.com and purchase additional items such as the Melissa and Doug Rainbow 6 Color Stamp Pad and Ed Emberleys Complete FunPrint Drawing Book. She absolutely loved it and is happily stamping many colorful and fun prints!!

I bought this for my son and he loves it. Finger prints are inherently messy, but the ink pads in this set are small which seems to keep the mess a little more controlled and I also like the way the case holds all the little pieces together in a cute and neat package. It would be nice if the inside of the tin included some more suggestions for thumb print designs because I think it is easier for young children to replicate what they see, but that would be my only suggestion.

The idea is cute but it is just a few tiny ink pads, some color pencils, some stamps and an idea booklet. The ink pads quality isnt great, they don't make a very clear fingerprint, more like a smudge. And the idea book didn't contain much more than what's printed on the outside of the tin case. I had high hopes for this item but it seems more like something I'd buy at the dollar store. For the price, I definitely wouldn't buy it again.

Great little stamp kit, especially for the price. The stamp ink works well, it's not the best quality but this kit caters to children, so that wasn't a suprise. My son really enjoys using both the stamps and his fingers to make project with this.

Great idea. I was expecting a little booklet inside showing how to do some of the characters but all that is included is what is on the cover of the tin. Still was happy with the kit then I noticed they show all the stamps on the finger prints with black and that is not an included color. My daughter and I spent 10 minutes playing and drawing and the included yellow is already too dry to make finger prints anymore. I would have been better off getting the Ed Emberley's book and using my own ink pads, color pencils, etc...this was an impulse buy and not worth the price even on sale.

Ok, so this is very cute set and I really wanted to love it...Why I bought this? I got this for my two year old, so we can create fun art together. She loves animals and I thought this would be a fun combination of finger painting, drawing and stamping.What I discovered:The set is tiny. The color pencils are small, the lead on them is hard and pigment is horrible -poor quality. You have to really press and trace several times to see a more vibrant color. The stamps themselves are tiny and not the greatest for a toddler to hold. But all of this still pales to the ink pad... My daughter was using the ink pad to make finger prints and after this project was done we washed her hands. Well she soon after wanted to eat grapes, and started screaming that her mouth hurts. I could not figure out what was wrong then realized maybe it was the ink after she fed me a grape and it tasted awful. I literally scrubbed her hand again with soap and water and could not get the repugnant taste off. I had to give her a bath thinking that soaking her hands in bath water long enough would get rid of the ink on her hands... Nope... After soaking in the bath, for 40 min, I could still taste the chemicals on her fingers although the ink was gone.This art set is great idea, but I wish the ink was more kid friendly... All other aspects I can deal with, but the ink on the ink pad is just absolutely horrid.

I bought this kit for my daughter to use with the children she is babysitting this summer. We were looking for easy and fun art projects that she can do with them. The children are quite young, but with assistance, they can make a finger or thumb print and my daughter can create adorable animals for them. She draws/freehands most of the eyes, legs and other bits instead of using the stamps. The children were so excited and their mom was super impressed that my daughter shows up for babysitting with an activity! I especially like the metal box the set comes in. It holds the ink pads, the colored pencils and the stamps. The price is incredibly reasonable...it is a great gift idea too!
