VellemanK8055RS USB EXPERIMENT INTERFACE BOARD KIT - Electronics Kit - Electronics & Electricity Science Kit - For Child, Teen - Requires Assembly

So this is a kit. It's a fine quality product. Assembly is easy but you do need prior electronic kit building experience: soldering, identifying components, etc. I purchased this because there is a software plugin for it for Homeseer HS3. I am impressed with how it works. In Homeseer you can simultaneously control the 8 outputs, read the 5 digital inputs and the two analog inputs. The nice thing is the board has LEDs and test switches and potentiometers. You can fully test the board with these even though you have not connected the board to any I/O devices. There is a demo program you can download from Velleman to test the board. The output ports are open collector. You will probably want to get an 8-channel relay board. If you are thinking about getting the Homeseer ADIO-100 you may want to check out the Velleman K8055 first. The ADIO-100 can't use all it's I/O ports at the same time although it does come in a nice case.

The kit came on time with all the parts. I put it together in a few hours and it worked as I hoped. All inputs and outputs are working. Just a reminder that this is a kit and not assembled. The circuit board is solid and has a quality feel. I has been running a couple of weeks with no problems. I have it connected to a raspberrypi II running raspian.

Kit arrived in two days. Easy to follow assembly guide, lots of fun and good project for kids learning to build pcbs. Came with a plastic case that can also be used for storing when not in use. Excellent product quality.
