Works well. You may want model with a spring.
This is like the most basic of wire strippers but does the job. FWIW, electrical wire itself is not as hard as wire for a spring or piano or such. Those hard wires may damage this tool (I have not tried). This tool is great for simple electrical wire. I have good results with both solid core and stranded. Good Things -Small, light, thin. -Can be locked (via screw) to work with a specific gauge of wire -Rivet on pivot will not get lost -Really cheap, if you lose it you're not out $$$ -Finish appears to resist corrosion -Has cutting & stripping areas on tool (most people prefer separate tools, but this works for both) Bad Things -Rivet on pivot (cannot be tightened, replaced etc) -No label for gauge sizes, may not be a big thing for you -Small, if you have big hands this tool may be too small -No spring on the model I chose. Most tools like this 'spring' open, check your model # -No fixed strip length, probably not expected on this cheap of a tool, but better ones to have it

Excellent wire strippers for those with patience to learn to use them.
Excellent wire strippers! I prefer these over pre-sized strippers and have had no trouble using them on everything down to 30 AWG. They work great on both solid and stranded wire, even fine strands, but they do require practice to become proficient at using them. I've used a few different brands over the years and the Kleins have always been reliable, and last quite a while as long as you don't abuse them. They are not for cutting.

Best wire stripper
Love this stripper. You have to acquire a feel for the cable you are stripping and it is a lot more satisfying when you complete the job. I mostly work with 24/4 cabling but run into different gauges all the time and it does not take long to adjust to different gauges so no need to be messing with the adjusting screw. I've had these for about two years and never gone back to the different sized hole ones. It did have to make some adjustments when I first received it but has been set the way ever since. I would definitely buy again and would recommend it. Unless your someone that likes everything done for them then this is not for you.

DOES NOT CUT THIN WIRE - Strips wire well
Works well as a wire stripper, but the tolerance is too low to cut very thin gauge wire. As a reference, it cuts 18 gauge very well but will not cut 22 gauge. The gap between the blades lets very thin gauge slide through so it doesn't make a cut. Aside from that, they work well and since the design is so simple I expect they'll last a very long time. Worth buying, just make sure it fits your use.

Simple and very good
I've had plenty of strippers in my lifetime (lol). Most of them do the job well enough, but for really small wires (like for pc fans and 3d printer stuff), my normal pair just wasn't dealing well with small gauge wire such as 24, 26, etc.. This is perfect for that job, and even works for larger wire too. Can't beat the price, and the adjustability.

Good Stripper, Bad Chopper
Small and convenient. Good for stripping wire but terrible at cutting stranded wire. Always bends the last 2-4 hairs instead of cutting all the way through.

Small and handy exactly what I need in a wire stripper!

I had a cheap crappy stripper one to do the job. It went into the garbage. So when I needed a couple of things from the Amazon. I bought a pair. This is a good name brand and they have been around for eons.
