Awesome and Actionable
Briefly this book is amazing. The title sounds daunting but this is an accessible work with actionable ideas that can improve your classroom instruction immediately. Briefly Cognitive Load Theory is the idea that people can only keep so many ideas in their working memory at one time. The goal hence is to design our instruction around this idea.I devoured this book in three days and took tons of notes. I am so excited about all the ideas I can implement in my math classes when we I get back to school in January and the concrete examples I can share with my teaching colleagues and my students. I am a math teacher but there are great ideas in here for teachers of any subject. The book is also filled with additional citations and places to look to learn more about specific topics.I read this book on Kindle on my iPad which was really useful for taking screenshots of some of the images that I will use to share ideas with my department. (I also added these to the notes I took on the book using Obsidian) At $10 this book is a steal. Highly recommended.

Theory broken down simply
Lovell has produced a well-written book. He has a talent for condensing a bulk of literature down into a manageable book that can be read quickly and easily. I feel much more confident in my knowledge of CLT having read this book.

This is about practical teaching - and it delivers
This resource takes the highly important and relevant cognitive load theory for education and puts it through a language of teacher application. Lovell is skilled at breaking down these ideas into digestible chunks and then providing clear and accessible ways for how this could be implemented in the classroom. Have you heard the buzz about cognitive load and tried to understand some research articles to try and implement it? The struggle is over. Instead, with this resource, there will be excitement for informing your practice with cognitive load theory, and both you and your students will benefit from it. I highly, highly recommend it for teachers and anyone involved in teacher training.
