Excellent system, easy to install and works flawlessly
I had been looking for an alarm for my house for quite a while and looked at ADT, Simplisafe, and Texecom, however they all had their flaws in one way or another. I’d previously considered Ring as I have the doorbell but was put off by the lack of a visual deterrent as there was no external ringer option. Thankfully this is something they now offer so with all boxes now ticked I went ahead and purchased the kit. Setup was ridiculously simple and there is no need to screw anything to a wall or chase cables or any of that, I mounted both the main unit and keypad to a wall at a later date, but for the first few weeks it resided in my office and the keypad on a shelf as I used Alexa and the Ring App to arm/disarm. The sensors are well designed and can be simply stuck in place with the included adhesive strips. The Protect plan is a worthwhile addition, not necessary if you wish to save a few pennies but the cellular backup and monitoring is worth the extra, especially if you already have Ring devices as you can cover all the devices under one subscription. The ringer is loud, the voice prompts are clear and Alexa integration is fantastic, all-in-all it’s a simple yet versatile solution that I’d recommend to anyone! I should note that the package also includes the Ring indoor cam, a great little addition with clear video and audio, great to keep an eye on what the dog is up to whilst I’m out!

CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR
I liked that this is easy to put in, in terms of fixing it to the wall- no electrical wiring needed etc. Once you've got the hang of it, it's very easy and straightforward to use, and you can add in extra equipment to suit your house. It looks good and the camera image is super clear, sound is fantastic. The reason why it lost stars was because of how many times it didnt do what it was supposed to. For instance: I had to call tech support because it wouldnt accept my set up code for the alarm (I had to uninstall and reinstall the app as they didn't know what its problem was) It has on occasion told me I cant disarm the alarm from my phone (called mode change) The base station goes offline without explanation on occasion. It has unregistered a component of my alarm system twice now, I.e. a motion sensor, so I have to re add it to the system. It doesn't tell you in the set up instructions that in order to set and disarm the alarm YOU MUST CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR. This is a bit awkward if you have your hands full and are trying to get in the house with kids, you have to get in and close the door before you can turn the alarm off. Overall I do like it, but the niggles when you're first learning about the system are a bit of a nuisance.

Easy to install and so far very reliable and easy to use alarm system
We bought this system to replace an aging alarm setup. After having to climb up to the top of my house to fit wired cameras, the installation of this system was a breeze. The sensors are all battery and you can stick them up or screw them into properly fix them to the walls and doors. We already had a Ring camera so had the app, so just adding the components for the alarm was easy, just be sure to follow the instructions! I have used mains power for the keypad, but this is rechargeable so it isn't strictly necessary and the main unit only needs a mains feed to run. I had the whole lot setup and running in about an hour, including mounting the main unit and keypad. If you use the app,it's easy to see when someone sets or unsets the alarm, plus any actual alarm activations will ping up via the app. The main unit has the alarm sounder, and this is loud enough to upset any intruders and make being in the house uncomfortable. Ring have released an external sounder unit but I often wonder how many external alarms go off and are ignored? With the internal sounder the intruders are hit with huge noise and it should cause them to leave quickly Vs people simply cursing another house alarm going off outside. When setting the alarm you can use the app or the keypad, but when using the key pad all doos and windows with sensors must by shut for the system to arm. I think you can turn off sensor if you want to keeps window open but that seems counter productive. The home setting means that you can arm the doors and windows but not the internal sensors, so you will be alerted if someone breaks in while you are at home. It's another great feature of this system. So far it's been up and running for months now and it's fault free. It works along side my ring camera and we have another ring camera we setup when we go away for a few days for extra peace of mind. Over all a simple, reliable system with no ongoing fee if you don't require the extra services they offer. I haven't subbed to that as I feel we get enough from the system as it stands.

Easy to use, great system.
This is a great piece of kit. It's ready to install and with the right amount of sensors for your home provides the coverage and security you need. It works along side other ring equipment, all together on the ring app. There is a camera that covers one side of the house and we also have a door bell for the front. All record when the alarm is activated. It's worry noting that to get the full service there is a subscription. I thought that might be just an extra I don't need but I was wrong. It's more than just video storage for the cameras. It's also an extra warranty, mobile backup of the WiFi is down and a direct call if the alarm activated to you and listed contacts. Overall the subscription completed what is a very good, user friendly package

Worth it
Having used a monitored alarm system which had a monthly premium decided I needed to do something different as premium was nearly 40 quid a month and a daily charge on my phone bill of 20p, the cost of this system is more or less the same as it was to set up the other system. So I decided that I would just swap like for like(more or less) the cost for the change over was comparable to a years premium of my old system. I opted for the extra payment to activate the gsm part of the alarm bought the year payment which worked out at 8 quid more than my daily costs for the year , having run the system now for several months now I have found the fact that I can link in my doorbell and cameras makes this system far better than my old system, both wireless. And the ability to keep adding means I feel the system is far superior and next year will save me a lot of money in these financial difficult times worth the swap. This starter kit gives you a basic protection and when you save a bit just keep adding till your happy with your protection. The ability to set every user their own unlock code the fact you can set up notifications when your alarm is set unset doors opened windows opened motion sensors means I can interrogate false alarms quickly via the app cancel alarm and reset whilst away from home, false alarms were spiders crawling across motion sensor on maximum sensitivity and not getting out the house in time when alarm set. The advantages of the system on medium sensitivity for motion spiders don’t set the alarm off and our dog can freely move around the house whilst alarm is on a big advantage over the old system as I had to disable the internal motion sensors on old system when dog was in house, the geo fence feature is an added bonus when I forget to set alarm drive away get a audible notice go to app an set alarm no need to go back home to set it. This feature can also be a slight inconvenience when family members are at home and you drive past the house when working as it will sound quick press of the home key silence it all in all very pleased with the system and recommend if your paying anything more than 8 pound a month for your current alarm system move to this and save yourself a fortune in the long run

Very happy
We have a few ring items, and this has been fab, I love the way I can arm and diary the alarm from the app on my phone, which is great for when I can't remember if we put it on... easy to install and nice and small. It doesn't look big on the wall. The base box can be moved and runs on both power and battery so if you worry about it going off at night you can take it to bed with you. The panic alarm function is a great idea. Will always buy ring products now.. tech support from ring has always been fab and they always help. Any motion detection will be notified on your phone app so that way you are notified if you have motion and the alarm goes off.
