You’ve seen the anime, played the games and made the memes, now read the manga that started it all!
Long before the days of the Super Saiyans and the Straw Hats, there was a little title in 1983 that revolutionized Shonen battle manga. This is a good old fashioned post apocalyptic slug fest that will wow and shock you to your very core! This is the world of Fist of the North Star! In the world of where our hero, Kenshiro lives in, the world as we know it no longer exists. There are no more government, no more industry, no more anything! All was wiped out in a nuclear war that made the earth a wasteland full of chaos and death! Roaming gangs and cults rule the people and the land they strive to maintain. Their only hope is a man that mastered the Hokuto Shin Ken (The Divine Fist of the North Star), a martial art that uses the channeling points of the human body to destroy anyone in a gruesome display that is too harsh for words! This man, is Kenshiro! He has gone down in history as one of the most powerful Martial Artists in fiction! His stance, his power, his attitude, and fighting style is utterly timeless! Very few can match his strength, will and fighting abilities! This manga has stood the the test of time, and if you want to read a Shonen Jump title that was here before the likes of Jojo, Dragon Ball and One Piece, look no further!

What More Can I Say?
I've forever been a fan of Fist of the North Star but had only ever seen the 80's, early 90's anime. This was my first time reading the manga and it did not at all disappoint. The artwork is on another level and that's saying something. The best artwork to be seen within a manga to me will always be Berserk (RIP Miura), however, this is a close second to me. The story so far is pretty much the same as the anime so as I collect the rest of the volumes I hope to see it deviate some but even if it doesn't, I'm happy with it so far. I've already purchased volumes 2 and 3 and can't wait to dig into them. Eager to get to Rei's arc in the series!

A Cry From the Heart!
This is quite possibly the best first volume release of Fist of the North Star you could feasibly have. Viz have released Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's post-apocalyptic martial arts epic in a gorgeous new hardcover release, retaining all of the originally serialized color pages and a brand-new lavishly-faithful translation. This volume contains chapters 1-13, which is a nice slice of the story that'll get you through all of the Shin arc and partway through God's Land. It's just enough to give you an idea of whether or not this story will be for you, and gives you just enough of the second arc to whet your appetite for the next volume. As someone who's been a fan of this franchise since high school, I'm very happy with Viz's new Signature edition. It's the kind of high quality release that this series has begged for. Highly recommended, a must-have for fans of classic Shonen action.

A Classic long overdue and it's about time!
The media could not be loaded. A Classic. It's right up there with other classics of great mangas like Dragonball, Dragonball z, Kenshin, Berzerk, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Vampire Hunter D, Akira, Ninja Scrolls ext: You get the idea it's great manga reading. Reminds me of Bruce lee in the world of Mel Gibson's The Road Warrior. You can't deny the inspiration for this was that movie the Road warrior. Kenshiro is a well built Bruce Lee lookalike and has similar mannerisms down to Bruce's howls and grunts. However in a apocalyptic world where water and food are most important , Kenshiro comes at the right time to save the day...but it's more than that. Definitely a must in your manga library. A classic manga long overdue here in the states. It's about time.

Fist of the North Star is an awesome manime! Change my mind.
I love Fist of the North Star, I feel like I don’t meet too many people who knows this series. Sadly I’ve watched the show first before I read the manga and I’m hoping they complete this series because I want to own all 18 volumes and be able to look back years from now and introduce this series to my future kids one day. For you fans out there I’d recommend buying this, even if you already watched the show or read it already. I wish they would of completed the Master edition in English but this great as well. I really do hope that they complete the series in english, either that or I’m just gonna have to learn how to speak and read Japanese. I’d give y’all an unlimited star rating if I could.

The Savior Has Arrived
After 38 long years since its original run in Japan, this (criminally) underrated classic finally gets a proper English release, and hopefully, a complete one this time.I’m absolutely enjoying the manga so far. I do find it easier to visualize than I normally would since I’ve watched the entire 80s anime series as well. I know what you might be thinking, though. Why purchase the manga when I could just re-watch that?Because I just love the series that much. I think that despite its age, Fist of the North Star as a whole still holds up, even in the modern world of anime and manga. If you like Bruce Lee films and/or post-apocalyptic settings, or if you’re just a fan of Battle Shōnen in general, you’ll love this.

A Fantastic Release!
Finally! Fist of the North Star is getting a re-release in an awesome hardcover format!! The opening color pages of this volume are awesome and the black and white set is stellar! Let’s hope this series can find the new expanded audience it deserves similar to how JOJO finally caught on for western readers.I don’t know why this keeps being an issue but manga readers should know that in Japan they read from right to left. This book maintains that format. It can be jarring to people who aren’t used to it but after reading even one or two books cover to cover you won’t even notice it anymore.Bottom line: Classic story, classic art, awesome design, high quality hardcover. Amazing!
