Gives tips, a template for planning, and a few reproducibles.

Great investment for educators new to the Science of Reading information, instruction, and materials.

The author is very good. Check out his other books.

but some of the series that he recommends are out of print, unavailable.

If you have his book A Fresh Look at Phonics, you don't need this book. It is just an updated version of it. It has some new graphics and research on the science of reading, but nothing very different than his other books. I returned it.
