Duke Heavy-Duty Live Cage Trap Large

FINALLY! A trap that could hold an armadillo! I was using the standard humane trap, which had worked well for possums and full size raccoons, but could not hold an armadillo. I caught it FOUR times and every time it pushed on the door until the wire arms bent and it escaped. I even tried reinforcing it and to no avail. THIS trap is easy to set, easy to release the animal, and worked well to hold it until I could relocate it. It is definitely worth the money!

Very sturdy. Also like that all you have to do to release the animal is roll the cage upside down. The first time I used it my bait was taken and the door never closed. After putting some 1/4 inch hardware cloth on the trip plate to stop the critter from stepping through the mesh I got him on the second night. You can also set the trap at the absolute end of L shaped bar that triggers the trap for a more sensitive setting. Very happy with my purchase.

This the best trap made hands down. I have used many different traps for feral cats, opossums, and raccoons and this is the best by far. Once the trap is set on the captured animal the critter can’t get out as I have had happened with other traps. It is very easy to release the captured critter by rolling the trap over twice and the door automatically opens. You don’t have to open the trap door by hand. This does present an issue if the trap is not secured in place in the trap setting because if the captured critter rolls the trap it will open. This is easy to prevent by securing the trap when setting it. Very easy to set, very well built, and well worth the money if you are looking for a really good trap.

Apparently, the trap had quite a battering during shipment. Despite being warped it was very sturdy and remained functional. There is a flaw in the design...if a raccoon manages to thrash enough to flip the trap upside down, the trap door will fall open. Secure it from rolling and the critter isn't getting out, ever. Last year I trapped four raccoons and had two traps disabled/destroyed. This design is heavier construction than those. It's heavy duty, simple and effective. A more substantial handle would help though.

Flipping the trap upside down will open the door which can prove handy if you have something trapped with a broom, like say a groundhog and can roll the trap to yourself with your foot. And stick him in it and roll it back over to shut it. (Also works great as intended in original form and purpose, just found the door system flawless)

I ordered this trap to replace a cheaper trap that a large racoon destroyed. I have caught several possums, but not a large racoon yet. I can tell that this trap will be much more durable tan the cheaper one that was destroyed.

This trap will hold an adult armadillo. As long as you keep it upright
