Useful Info- very understandable
After being diagnosed w/ PCOS and not having a great doctor I needed to understand it better so I can better deal with it. Diet is one major way to combat this and this book( although at times gets too scientific) literally breaks down what and how you should eat. It explains to you in plain english how you develop it, why it happens, what is happening the minute sugar hits your pancreas and blood. The author breaks it down in such a way that it gave me the tooks to fight this. The author goes in depth on what happens when you dont eat for hours and how your body craves sugar... and what happens when you eat the wrong food. Then it gives you a food plan and how you should eat for the week. It helps you plan with a variety of specific food for ppl battling PCOSI definitely recommend this book for anyone who has PCOS and needs a clear and descriptive way dealing with it.

Great book for women struggling with PCOS
I bought this book a few months ago, and took some time to read it and plan out a diet for myself that follows the guidelines in this book. Diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago, I had done a good job of controlling my weight throughout my 20's. Now in my early 30's and experiencing more of life's stressors, I had gained a substantial amount of weight and was having a lot of trouble getting rid of it. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of PCOS, but this book helped me understand some of the ways the body reacts to carbs and sugars, that helped me see why I had trouble making good food choices. It also enlightened to me some of the risk factors associated with PCOS (for example, I didn't know that women with PCOS are more susceptible to uterine cancer, etc.)After sticking to the guidelines in this book, I've successfully lost over 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I feel great and feel like I may have finally found something that will help me make better food choices and reach a healthy weight. I would really recommend reading this book and trying this approach for any woman struggling with PCOS.

Good read
This book was a good read. It was very informative to some things I was not aware of. However, the title is a diet plan, so I expected there to be an actual diet plan set up somewhere in the book. But instead it gives lists of foods and how many carbs, etc.

A Must Read for the Women with PCOS!
The PCOS Diet Plan is a must read for women diagnosed with PCOS. What women should expect during physician's visits and a good overview of medicines typically prescribed. Understanding insulin resistance is important in managing the disease and the explanation in the book is simplified and very well done.In striving to achieve success may women feel restricting carbohydrates is the answer. This book provides the reader with many meal suggestions and explains exactly what a balanced meal should look like. The author stresses the importance of watching the quality of the foods as well as the quantity. The material is presented in a positive manner with many useful suggestions.Other features that are extremely useful are how to tackle the supermarket aisles and many valuable resources are found in the back of the book. This is a book that the reader will find themselves referring back to repeatedly.

Pointers for lifestyle change that is sustainable
The first 30 pages had me weeping because I think I realized exactly what I’m dealing with having PCOS. But this approach is doable, sustainable, and easy to follow and implement in my current lifestyle. The author clearly knows what’s she talking about and this is a must read for any woman struggling with PCOS. This book provides insight from the perspective of PCOS, but its advice is transferable and intuitive. I tore through it in about a day and a half and have already begun making changes. I feel encouraged by what I’ve read in this book.

This book doesn't tell you what to eat
This book is way too difficult to apply to real life. You would think that a book called "The PCOS Diet Plan" would have an actual diet plan in it, but it doesn't. Rather than present a diet plan, it shows you a bunch of complicated calculations. It spends a lot of time talking about the tests my doctor will run to diagnose me, and what chemical reactions are occurring in my body that caused the condition. I just need to know what I'm supposed to eat to help my PCOS. That's why I picked this book. The title was flat out misleading.

User-friendly, with a variety of eating options. Hillary makes it easy for you.
The 2nd Edition of the PCOS Diet Plan is user-friendly and super-helpful. I have multiple clients each week who struggle with PCOS. Reading this book will simplify eating with PCOS. People like the way she takes complicated science and makes it easy to understand. They like the way she shows how to break-up larger meals into a balanced day. It doesn't promote deprivation, and shows how to find balance for every type of eater in a variety of easy ways. This is not a one-size-fits-all plan; it's more of a "Here's how you can make it work for your life" plan. Thanks, Hillary! -Rhys Wyman, MS, RD, LD
