Sometimes OEM replacements matter!
Don't think the auto parts stores brand is the same quality or application. I bought an auto parts store brand thermostat for my 2012 Outback when replacing my timing belt, pulleys and water pump. The store brand thermostat lasted about 3 months before it threw the rubber gasket, keeping the thermostat open. This will lead to a low coolant temp code. Long story short, I replaced the thermostat with this genuine OEM and resolved the issue. Don't skimp on the the thermostat!

Performs as expected
I replaced this during a routine timing belt change. The car has performed as expected for a few thousand miles now after the change. Installation was trouble-free.

The only thermostat you want in your EJ25 Subaru engine (or other EJ 4 cylinder)
Swapped the used thermostat for this new original equipment one in a 2012 outback while doing a timing belt and water pump replacement. Doesn't take any extra time and we picked up a few lost MPG after the replacement.
