I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to use a retractable leash when walking their dog. This one locks quickly and easily to keep your pet close by your side, such as when cars go by or other dogs are near (or that squirrel makes a run for it). But it also lets your dog explore and stop to sniff while you can continue your pace. It also works very easily and allows you to swing your arms when walking without affecting your dog's movements, so it gives you both a better workout. With a poop bag attachment I have all I need for a good hike for as long as I want.

I bought 4 different colors (black, blue, red, and pink) for my dogs. It's tge best for the price. The ribbon does not twisted, easy release and lock button.

The reel mechanism on Alcott retractable leashes exudes quality. The function and feel is excellent. Unfortunately, the lead material is thin and easily damaged through friction across a rough surface (such as pavement, brick, concrete or stone) and can quickly be ruined if your pet bites or chews it. Recommend adding a short, heavy duty lead to maximize life.

This is a nice flexible leash that has a wide flat lead. He can go down a flight of steps without pulling me. I use it for my small dog but this one could be used for larger well-behaved dogs. IF you need a lot of handling then use a stronger lead and training before this one. My guy has been well trained.

I have owned a lot of retractable leashes and have never had issues like I do with this one. In fact, I'm frustrated because I'm going to have spend money to replace it. My dog is small but strong and likes to give chase. When she takes off after a critter, I try to lock the leash, only to find that it doesn't quite lock. There is some resistance, but I can't stop her from pulling it out. I fear that she will end up under a car or another moving object because I wasn't able to lock the leash. Also, it doesn't retract quickly enough to keep up with her movement, so it often drags on the ground and gets tangles in her feet. I would not recommend this leash to dog owners who want any control.

Love this for the price. I had this brand before and my puppy chewed through it but this ones holding up ok!

Do not buy this. I got it in the mail yesterday and 20 minutes into our walk, it broke. This is incredibly unsafe. My dog is 18lbs and because she tends to tug, I got the leash for dogs that are larger than her. I had to carry her home. Thank goodness she did not run off because we were on a well traveled road.
