Replaced window air conditioner with fan, so far so good
Never bought one of these before. Price seemed high for a fan and I thought all fans were basically the same. This fan's technology was new to me. I will start by saying the Vornado does make a huge difference in lowering the temperature feel in a room especially in smaller rooms. We have central air in the house but don't run it often. I like my room cold so have been running a window air conditioner on max almost every night in the summer for years. Had to get rid of the window AC this year due to a damaged window. I have to say the Vornado has performed admirably on 90 degree days alongside central air. The Vornado re-circulates the air extremely well and you really feel the difference. Even on its own you immediately feel the difference over a standard fan. The remote works well. For anyone bothered by the light on the fan display you can put a piece of mail over it without blocking out the sensor so the remote still works. The fan timer is a nice touch. You can set the timer for 6-8 hours so it shuts off before you wake up. If you are looking at buying a Vornado I would highly recommend this model over the others for ease of use, power, and reliability... for some reason people had a lot of issues with some of the other more basic Vornado models without the remote. As for the many reviews complaining about the noise, I actually like it. Running at 50 speed, the noise of the fan helps to greatly reduce outside noise. The fan creates more of a white noise sound anyways and you quickly get used to it. Have run it at 70+ speed as a change of pace and the noise did bother me though. But running it at 50 speed is the best of both worlds, blocks out outside noises that might wake you up in the morning and makes a big difference in how cool the room feels. Overall, for a regular sized bedroom, the Vornado comes highly recommended. But for very large rooms or open areas you would probably need something else entirely like a high powered window air conditioner.

your future cooler self will thank you for buying this fan!
I have had the same small 3 speed Vornado for nearly ten years now, and while my original model truly deserves a 21 gun salute for its service over the years, it was time to upgrade and get something from the modern age. That’s where this Vornado DC Fan comes in. First Impressions Vornado makes quality products, and this one is no different. It has an elegant simplicity to it with a minimalist design, and more importantly, they last FOREVER. My last model had a 3 speed dial on the back, so you had to go turn it on and off in a slightly inconvenient manner. This model is improved by having two buttons on the front that let you raise/lower with a setting range of 1-100, so much more customizable. Power This fan doesn't mess around. Remember as a child when you left a window open and your dad would chastise you for trying to cool the whole neighborhood? With this fan, you can. Perfect for combating the sweltering Texas heat or for keeping you chilly in your blankets like an arctic fox burrowing in the snow. Or maybe you want a mild gentle breeze - that’s fine too, the speed control lets you customize your airflow for the ideal temperature. Sound This fan is… not quiet, to say the least. If you asked me before I had a Vornado, I might not think this sounded like a good thing. Honestly though, it’s pure bliss. Better than the best white noise machine. It's like a steady, soothing hum that drowns out the world's symphony of nighttime noises. Thanks to this fan, I now sleep like a log - a log in a blissful hurricane. I also sleep with pepper spray because I’m pretty sure someone could break down my door and I would not hear it when this is on. Remote Control Okay conceptually? I love the remote control. Gone are the days of bargaining and pleading with your spouse to get up and turn off the fan so you can stay safely inside your warm cocoon of blankets. Sort of. This remote seems like it has a maximum distance of 4 feet on a good day, and that’s only if you are in direct line with the fan. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily have to point the air directly at you to work, so this isn’t TOO bad once you find a good spot for it. It also keeps the same setting when you turn it on and off, so you don’t have to fuss to get that perfect number each time. Final Thoughts Overall, I’d say this fan is a solid buy. It's strong, reliable, and it won't let you down when the heat is on. Yes, the remote might make you feel like you're trying to communicate with a stubborn cat at times, but it's an easily fixable quirk for the reward of controlled breeziness. If you have little patience for modification to optimize a product or you want to hear every creak in your house during the night, it probably isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for highly adjustable control and you can’t sleep without arctic winds and a peaceful silence, you’ve found your match.

Awesome fan
Excellent fan, love the granular control the DC motor offers. We use this fan in our workout room which has a bike trainer setup that we use. This makes a difference for us because the kids like a small amount of air when doing a training session during warm up then more air flow as the difficulty ramps up and intervals begin. The remote is small, works very well and is easy to use. This fan looks great, runs great and is built well. Yes it has plastic but this is Tesla plastic, not Chevy plastic. Kids love it when they are training on the bike and say that they like that the air flow because it covers all of them, not just say, their head. Guess this is due to the circular motion of the air flow as it is not a directional blast like with a regular fan. This thing moves a lot of air. Noise is unnoticeable at low levels. Nitpicks - This fan does not rotate, no big deal for us, we do not need it to rotate for our uses. For the price however, the thing should rotate around the Sun. Also, wish it would raise a bit higher than it does. Does not negatively affect what we use it for, and the height works fine for us as it is. Last nitpick, wife gave me the stink eye when she found how how much it cost. Unpleasant.

the good quality you expect from Vornado
This fan is MUCH quieter than my older (several years ago) Vornado fan. It moves a lot of air, too! My only con is that the light displays are on all night. It's more light than I would like, since it's in a bedroom. SO, I put dark blue masking tape over them. The remote still works. No problem! I like the compact size and adjustable body to direct the air flow. This product comes from Andover, Kansas. US. Vornado fans have been around for decades and so far, the quality and value is still way up there!

I got this to replace an Ozeri 3 motor fan, which died after just a couple years and was almost as expensive. I like that it has a remote, but wish it had a remote storage on it. And wish the remote weren't so picky about having DIRECT aim. I LOVE the 0-99 variable settings. I'm sort of picky, sometimes low is too low but medium is too high, so I like being able to dial in an EXACT setting. I'm not mad that it doesn't oscillate. I'm not mad that it doesn't have a bunch of tropical/intermittent settings. I largely use this to help move air from my split ac living room to my bedroom, and I largely hate the feeling of air just intermittently hitting me. Constant or nothing is all I want. However, if you're into all that, this fan will be a bit of a disappointment. I appreciate the "air mover" theory, that a vortex of air bouncing around cools a room more effectively than oscillation. But, in practice, i think it's kind of bs. It doesn't really seem that magical. It's just a fan. Albeit a very strong nice fan. But just a fan. It's loud at high settings. A lot louder than the ozeri fan it replaced, even at lower settings. And i'm not sure it is truly more effective. Yes, at high settings it is VERY powerful, but i'm not sure that the power really provides that much more cooling. However, the noise is mostly just the sound of the air moving, and not any motor noise. So, if you like white noise it's not necessarily a bad thing at all. My biggest complaint is the cheap plastic stand. Seriously, with such a nice durable motor, expensive product, why put it on such a cheap flimsy stand? Aesthetically not pleasing at all. The ozeri fan it replaced had a beautiful heavy glass base, but the fan was cheap and motors didn't last. After a few months owning this fan, I still feel conflicted. It's powerful. I think it's likely going to last a long time. To me, it's not short on features really. But it's ugly and loud. Was this fan a mistake? Am I better off buying something more aesthetically pleasing, slightly cheaper, but will have to replace every 2 years? Or did I make the right choice? I will update if I ever truly decide. This was my first Vornado, but everyone in Hawaii raves about them so I felt pretty sure I'd like it. But I hadn't really tried one before. I think it might be one of those things you either love or hate. If you've had one before, you'll likely love this one.

Stout little fan. Love the warranty!
This is one stout little fan. I'm picky about the products that I bring home and place in any of my rooms. This is designed very well and works exactly as you'd expect. Fan noise is somewhat subjective. Even though they do list the decibels at different velocities, it's still a personal opinion about sound. I keep this one in my bedroom and when it's at a comfortable fan speed you can still hear the fan when sleeping. However, I want some white noise while I sleep since I'm a very light sleeper. This is a smooth white noise and is just right at a setting of "25". I have another one of these in my home office, and I boost it up a little bit when the remote when I'm not on a phone call, and when a call comes through I dropped it down to 5 or 10, I can't hear it, and neither can the people on the phone. And that low-level does still keep the air moving quite satisfactorily. Overall it's just a great little fan. On the noise level, I gave it a four because even though I think it's still quiet enough for me I was kind of hoping it would be a little quieter at some of the higher ranges like over "40". But I understand that when you move air you gotta make some noise. I guess I'm being a little picky here too. But again this is a great fan, I would recommend to anybody and I'm sure I will be buying more of them. As matter fact I did buy a 2nd one of these and its older, bigger brother the 660 model and I'm thoroughly enjoying that one as well, even though it has a 5 year warranty instead of a 10-year warranty.

Great versatility, no remote storage location.
Great "little" circulation fan but note to self and every buyer. There is no remote storage placement on the fan and don't try to store it in the spot where you and stick your fingers for the hand carry. The remote will drop inside the shield area and you'll have to remove the front grill. Other than that is a great fan. I love that you can tilt it up at virtually any angle and set the fan speed in single increments. I also wish you could position the fan left and right without having to loosen what I'll call the "shaft nut" that is used to raise or lower the fan.

Great Vornado product but remote needs improvement.
This fan is a beast machine. By that I mean it is like a wind tunnel in my large studio apartment. It really does throw out air 85 feet. I can hardly wait for the monster heat that California can have in the summer. I have always loved the Varnado product – all my fans have been Varnado. The only real downside is the remote. It is incredibly tiny and is going to get lost in a matter of days and the worst of it is it cannot be activated unless you have a #1 Phillips head screwdriver which I believe very few people have on hand. Because I cannot open the battery door without the screwdriver I have had to toss the remote in a tool cabinet and forget it. Varnado designers really need to work on this -perhaps throw in a #1 Phillips screwdriver with the product. At $150+ this one thing is a super flaw in an otherwise perfect product. During coronavirus lockdown I can’t exactly go to a hardware store just to get a #1 Phillips head screwdriver. Vornado please think about this. Finally, I had reason to call Vornado customer service when unpacking. And in the middle of this “coronavirus no customer service” I was amazed to have immediate response. And the person was actually an American! No offshore monkey business for this USA company. (Update) in use approximately two months and have found the power cord to be very frustrating. An extremely weak design - it keeps disconnecting under the pedestal every time I move the fan. This is a bad design for a fan of this price. It is like a high school science project design – definitely needs to go back to the drawing board please. June: : it is now in the hot summer with some 91° days and no breezes. This fan is amazing. It aerates an otherwise stuffy studio apartment in an old building. Have had this stuffy apartment for a few years but now for the first time it is very tolerable. Definitely fresh air. Best fan I have had so far. UPDATE October 2020: this fan has made it through the gauntlet of insane weather conditions. It moves up to 5⭐️ Because it functioned nonstop in that orange sky you see in the photo above which was the San Francisco Bay area at 11:00 AM where California wildfire smoke obstructed the sun and turned the landscape into Mars. A few days of 100° and the fan just kept cranking. Whisper quiet. Motor tolerating the unthinkable.
