I started biking again 2 months ago. When I bought my Trek bike it came with a set of Crank Bros Eggbeaters, which I didn't find practical for NYC urban riding. The first thing is that you have to make sure you have platform pedals with the proper screw holes which will allow you to install these clips. I bought a pair of MKS Sylvan Touring Pedals from Amazon.com and I'm very satisfied. As soon as I put my feet inside the clips I could feel a difference. Yes, it does help you a lot when you pedaling. My pattern is now more uniform, and I'm inputting energy whether I'm pushing the pedal down or pulling up. It's very easy to take my feet out of them too, which is very importing if you bike in a area like NYC. It took me less than a few minutes to learn how to insert my feet in the clips and although this was my first ride with them I can do it without even looking down most times. Also, I keep my right foot in when I have to stop and only take my left foot out, when it's time to start pedaling again I then insert my left foot. The good things is that if you have two-sided platform pedals when can pedal on the opposite side of the pedal just to get you going, and once you're moving again then you can proceed to insert your foot, so yes, very easy to use, and they do give you more speed. If you do pedal on the the side opposite to the clips, do not do it on a curve, as you will scratch them against the pavement. On this ride I was wearing sneakers, but I also put on my dressy shows size 10 (USA) while I was at home and didn't have any problem doing any of the things that I mentioned above. In regards to the quality. The pedals are plastic, I just got them but they feel pretty sturdy to me, so I don't think they're easily breakable, and they're also very cheap. One last thing. I wouldn't say that these are beginner clips. I know that some people that have expensive road bikes and wear spandex might think these clips are garbage, but they're for a different purpose. A lot of us are not interested in getting clipless pedals and clips with straps because we're practical riders. I also have a review on the MKS Sylvan Touring Pedal Double Sided.

The don't easily fit my pedals. Going to have work something out to get them to fit.

Klappt also!

Bit ugly but do the job perfectly, the Wife is no longer confident with full clipless, she is now late 60s and after a few falls doesn't bounce so well. These do the job along with a flat style pedal.

Ah, bicycle terminology! A toe clip has a strap but no clip, a strapless toe clip has no strap and no clip, and a clipless pedal requires a clip on your shoe. Anyway, this is a good product. I've replaced my toe clips with these strapless clips for commuting. Although a toe clip with a strap provides more firmness for pulling upward while pedalling, the Delta Cycle product offers more safety. It's a good compromise for a commuter who wants to apply more power to his or her pedalling cadence but doesn't want feet locked on the pedals.
