This stuff is amazing. My Father was a general building contractor for 30 years all of my childhood he would come home smelling like fresh cut cedar. actually he use to have pieces of saw dust stuck in his beard. When I put this product in my beard it reminded me of that. It took me back to when life was simple. I remember I use to wait all day for my Dad to get home just so he could teach me how to build. This is a great product the smell is spot on, it feels great in the beard and it brought back great memories of time I spent with a great man.

I received this product and it looked just as it does in the photos provided. I opened it up to check the scent and was a little surprised. You can smell the orange but the secondary smell which I am guessing is supposed to be cedar wood is odd. I certainly don’t get cedar wood from it and the scent itself is mildly off putting. Still, I followed the instructions and applied it. The scent isn’t terrible in your beard but isn’t great either. My biggest complaint is it is much greasier than I anticipated. No matter how small of an amount you use and how much you massage it into your beard, it’s still greasy. If I am honest, I will likely give up on this product soon and order something else.

My first beard balm ever, it makes my face feel less like steal wool and smells amazing. I got the tobacco Vanilla beard balm and I love the scent, would highly recommend. For reference, I am not a smoker and never have been, the tobacco scent is really nice, and manly, and my wife likes it on me.

Have used this brand before, and love what it does for my beard. The only issue I have is that their scents are never quite what I expect; they never smell bad, but just different that expected.For example, I thought the Tobacco Vanilla would smell similar to the 18.21 Man Made Pomade I use. However, it was very powerful with the vanilla and smelled very sweet with very little to no Tobacco scent.I did also try the Lumberjack, thinking it would be very woodsie with a slight pine or redwood smell. However, the smell was what my wife would describe as "Sexy Pinesol".Again, great product and makes my beard feel great. My only complaint is the smell is just a little below my standards

I just got this in the mail; opened up the tin and..HOLY SMOKES!!! The smell is amazing.. Im in love with the fragrance.. Its sweet, deep, complex.. you can smell the vanilla, the richness of the tobacco.My beard seems to like it too; its soft and tamed.I wonder if they sell bigger tins.. or make a fragrance.

I've bought this product for some time now and this last container started turning yellow over time. I have a white beard and when I apply this it give my beard a yellow tint. I may try it again and hope it was just a bad batch, but if not I will need to find another product to use.Sad because I really like the way this smells and feels in my beard.

The balm itself, I really like that it actually softens my beard! I cannot stand the scent however. I have a vanilla tobacco beard oil I love the scent...this is very different. I will go with the reviewer who said scented candle smell, I will add: very much like a very strong cologne. I am wearing it as I write this review, and it is giving me a headache. I know smell is a very subjective thing, I like the idea...but it is not working at all for me. It is rather making me sick. Sorry Rugged Roots, price and product are good, scent is really not doing it for me!

This smells great (tobacco vanilla). The scent is pretty similar to a vanilla scented candle. Definitely has an autumn/ holiday season vibe. As for the balm, it's a little heavy on the wax but that's not necessarily bad. I use it after a little beard oil to keep hairs lying flat & helps maintain shape.

This beard balm works better than I expected. The product is the perfect combination of oils, wax, and moisture. I was honestly expecting it to be like most waxes which are too thick, however, this product exceeded expectations. The price was also a wonderful surprise as most balms cost an arm and a leg, but, this balm is high quality and affordable.The balm absorbs quickly into the hair and helps moisturize my skin beneath the beard, which, in my opinion can get very dry. After only 2 days of using this product my beard is silky smooth with the perfect shine. I honestly can't wait to try other products from Rugged Roots

The smell of the balm in it's whole concentrated form smells not unlike raw porridge or oats or some other grain which is not to say it's displeasing but that it does have a pretty pungent scent (wash your hands after application!) but once it is applied and combed through does not continue to have that pungent oat-y smell which I am glad as I wanted a scentless product and was concerned at first but am pleasantly surprised. I have a goatee and do not need to apply much of the product at all so I anticipate this tin will last me months! The balm is firm but quickly melts into a greasy/oily substance which is easily spread through the beard from root to tip. I would describe it as having light to medium hold and would say it has softened the feel of my wiry hair. I would recommend this to first timers who are unsure of using scented balms and want to try out balm as a grooming product.All in all I am very pleased with his product and hope to find a way to get a scent sampler to support them further.

Unsatisfactory product. Paste is very grimy and starts off hard, does not spread well in beard at all. Doesn't feel like a balm at all. No visible effect on beard unless a significant amount is used (like 1/5th of the tin, very unreasonable). I cannot recommend this balm.

The product itself is good, I have the vanilla tobacco one and it has a relatively pleasant smell to it, but the Amber sandalwood one is, well, not to my liking. Yes, different scents work for different people, but I had to wash it out after 10 mins - has a baby powder scent component to it that just didn't work for me being mixed with everything else - to each his own, but not for me!

Love the smell and texture. Id put it somwhere between beard oil and wax if that makes any sense. It has a nice oily moisture to it. Much prefered over the white creamy style balm.
