Very satisfying
I love this item. Used to have my appliances spoiled by electricity but not any more. Highly recommend.

Strong and rugged make, with quality sockets. Must buy!
Good quality...would have also preferred a APC model with individual switches for each socket...along with some 5V/3A USB fast charging ports. This one is also recommended, however, as I had it's requirement also.

Failed to protect my fridge
I bought this item with confidence that this will help prevent any surge damage to my new fridge but when I can back from a short vacation, this Surgearrest was busted and so is my new Hitachi fridge.

Firstly, I won’t take risk for my family and I have to get very high quality brand power extensions, as so many accidents over the world were related to bad quality and misuse of power extensions. This is not related to how many people used it and reviewed it. It’s all about it’s build quality, usability and durability, all contributing to its stability and hence safety. Therefore there are already not many brands I can trust in this aspect. Secondly even APC is now owned by Schneider, not all Schneider sub-brand extensions are good, and some with significant usability issues for me. However APC is just exceptionally wonderful quality. The body is sturdy, cable can run out on either side, plugging is smooth and feeling quite sleek! It’s like the different feeling of plugging a cheap or original Apple cable into a Mac or iPad, with that satisfying confirming yet smooth and crisp click. The switch is also very sleek and certainly bouncy sturdy. However I hope APC can release models with longer cables and make the body a bit thinner. Before that exist, this one is still the only one I’ll keep sticking and buying, also to replace the others in my home and workplaces.

It looks like a plug, and it passes electricity through perfectly. What does it do? Well it says it is protecting my equipment against surges. I can't verify this, I just have to trust it. So really this is the reason why I went with APC because they are a big brand and have a lot of trust in the industry. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this is all a ruse. I look forward to the future TV and radio adverts asking me "Were you the victim of surge protection plug mis-selling?". Until that time I just hope that this thing is doing the job I expected. If I do have a surge I am not sure how I'll ever tell.

Feels well made, with plenty of space between each socket to allow for wider plugs. It's a brand I can trust to keep the connected devices safe. Found it difficult to mount with double sided tape, but maybe that's not it's intended mounting method.

We had a mains surge/spike problem that occurred up to four times an hour that temporarily blanked out the tv screen for just a few seconds, but just long enough to ruin the watching of a tv programme or film, amazingly it seemed to co-incidentally occur just as the storyline reached a climax, it became a joke. We had various electricians check it out, but they concluded that the problem was either power supply switching by the company, a neighbouring property switching on and off domestic devices or even light switches or our own central heating system, so in the end I did the usual research and found that APC produced a good range of mains suppression, filtering or conditioning products of which the APC Surge Arrest Essential -PM1W-UK is their most basic entry level model, however I plugged it in, restarted the tv and it has worked perfectly for almost a week. No interruptions, no apparent spiking and I might add the tv picture and sound seems slightly improved, although that last part might just be wishful thinking, anyway I'd happily recommend this product as a perfect solution to the problems detailed above and well worth trying.

APC was originally a USA company making high quality surge protectors but have traditionally been very expensive to buy in comparison with the competition. APC is now part of the French multinational, Schneider Electric who are a seriously professional outfit and make amongst other things top of the range home wall sockets and switches - ask an electrician or kitchen fitter about the high quality of Schneider electrical fittings. So given the pedigree of APC's current owners, I bought this product and I was not disappointed. Excellent, First Class are words that do not do full justice to the quality of this product. The design is clean, simple and completely user friendly. I just love the raised/angled socket block which makes it much easier to unplug plugs. I have just ordered another one in order to protect my TV, AV equipment. Highly recommended.
