Smooth cuts, spring-loaded. Solid tool!
Using the right tool for the specific task makes a significant difference. This tool is truly well-built and worth the investment. It has a spring-loaded operation with a clean design, eliminating any obstructions since the springs are internal. These cutters are super satisfying to use.

You get what you pay for
Honestly I can't think of a single Park Tool device that has ever found a way to disappoint me, and this is no exception. Sturdy and heavy with a nice grippy.... grip. It cuts through brake/shift cables like it's nothing, the cut is clean and the ends stay in place, and crimping is simple and easy. Happy to support a company in the USA that manufactures most of their own products, when that company also represents top quality.

Quality precision cutter
Cut the hoses cleanly. Have yet to cut a cable. But think it will do the job well.

Great quality, work well, expensive
In a nutshell, these work great but cost too much. I bought a set of control cable cutters because ordinary diagonals tend to crush the outer cable housings of bicycle control cables. They cut, but it can take a considerable effort to get the end of the housings round again so the inner cable passes through without binding. That's where these cutters come in. They don't mash the cable housings flat. It saves a lot of time. This tool makes a nice cut on the inner cables too--no fraying. They work very nicely. Only complaint: this tool seems over-priced.

Happy with my purchase!
Heavy duty and does the job it’s made for very well. A bit pricey when compared to its competitors but that’s just Park Tool for ya.

A quality tool that gets the job done.
This tool gets the job done. I found, in my use, that its size can make using it a little bit cumbersome. I got done what I needed to get done, and the tool does a good job of cutting cables and housing. Its size, for my use, made it a bit tricky to get the tool to where it needed to be to cut the cable once I had gotten my cable in place and clamped down on my brakes. I got it to work, and it worked great in cutting the cable. No splaying of the cable and no errant long stragglers after cutting, all strands were cut nice and neat. This tool has the added feature of having two sizes of crimpers to crimp down cable end caps. Both crimpers are perfectly sized so there is no worry about over compressing the crimping end caps, causing over crushing of the end caps or cables. An added point about cutting housing. I cut high quality Jagwire housing. Even then after cutting you must take care to clear the cut end. Meaning you have to file away the metal wrap surround of the housing, from the pinched cut end, and ream out the compression inherent in cutting housing so you end up with a clean open round end. Cleaning up your cut end will make all the difference.

Great Cutter!
This is a great cutter! I usually only work on my own bike but occasionally do minor work on friends' bikes. I have a decent collection of bike tools, most of them made by Park. I already had a standard (lighter weight) cable and housing cutter and it performs well but I decided to splurge and buy this one this year. It's definitely a "shop quality" tool. If you cut a lot of housings and cables, you'll appreciate the heft and precision of this cutter! It's a little expensive for the home mechanic but should last forever and will pay for itself many times over. If you've ever tried using a flat edged cutter to cut bike cables, you probably understand why this type of cutter is much preferred. The flat edge tends to spread the individual wires at the cut, causing them to fray and become harder to work with. You can twist them back together but when trying to feed the cable through a narrow housing and the tiny hole in the housing cap/end, it can become a pain and also affect the overall durability of the cable at that end. Then you also have the flat crimping of the cable housing, once you muscle through it. The curved cutters like these squeeze the cable/housing from all sides and give you a round cut. This helps prevent fraying and does a much nicer job with the housings. They also reduce the effort involved. This is just the right tool for the job and well worth the money!
