Very nice product. I get lots of compliments on it.
I thought it was very well made and the installation went well. I mounted it on a 8'x12' backyard storage shed with a metal roof. Because of the contours of the metal roof, it was tricky to cut the base for a good fit. It helped that the cupola came in 3 sections (the base, the vents, and the cap). It was easier to work with the base without having the weight of the other sections to deal with. The instructions do not suggest this, but I think it would have been more secure to screw 2x2 cleats to the roof and then screw through the base into the cleats.I cut a hole through the roof to make the vent functional. That part was optional. You could use the cupola just for decoration, but I wanted it to be a working vent. The instructions suggest laying screening over the hole in the roof, but that wasn't practical for me because of the irregularity of the metal roof. I ended up laying a screen across inside the base underneath the sill and that worked very well. I held it down with 1/2 x 3/4 wood trim strips screwed down inside the base. Finally, I attached a weather vane to the peak of the cap using brass screws with rubber washers to hopefully keep it from leaking. The base of the weather vane attached to the angled planes of the roof cap and did not require drilling a hole directly down into the peak. The cupola product description online advised against drilling down into the peak.Overall, the construction of the kit was very good. It came in 3 sections: the base which included the sill, the louvered vent section and the roof cap. The copper roof was shrink-wrapped in plastic to protect it from the oil on your hands while you are handling it. I didn't know that would be a problem, but the instructions said not to handle the copper directly. I had to a little when I attached the weather vane, but tried to keep it to a minimum. The 3 sections fit well together and since they're made out of PVC, it should be maintenance-free. The roof cap is particle board underneath the copper, but it shouldn't get exposed to weather. The only minus was that the screws provided in the kit were supposed to be painted white so they wouldn't show. The long screws for the base were, but the shorter screws to attach the cap weren't. Also, the screws require a square drive bit, which I fortunately had.

Looks good from the distance
Looks good with copper top but wish the vent part was at least a foot taller. If you install weathervane on top make sure it is perfectly level for weathervane to work correctly.

Great looking and easy to install.
Installed my cupola on the she shed I’m building for my wife today. Installation was very easy and took about an hour or so and that was with the added weathervane I purchased from Amazon. The quality of the cupola is good. I would not categorize it as master craftsmanship, but for a shed or small house it’s perfect. It was shipped in secure packaging well protected and arrived sooner than expected. The copper roof was really well wrapped and protected from any shipping damage. Out of box it is in three sections, the base, the louvers and the roof. The instructions say attach the louver section before cutting base, but I cut the base first. It was easier to move that way and less susceptible to damage. The sides of the base are beveled/sloped so remember to angle your saw blade so the cut edge sits flat on the roof. Also, you need a jig to cut the middle cuts at the peak of the cut so as to not leave cut lines from the circular saw where the cuts meet. I secured four 8" pressure treated 2x4s to the roof to anchor the base to using the inner base as my placement guide for the 2x4s. Be sure to level the base first. Before securing the base to the 2x4s, I attached the louver section. Also I pre-drilled countersink holes in the base and roof so screw heads wouldn’t be visible. Louver section already has pre-drilled holes for connecting it to the base which is really nice. I only removed some of the plastic at the peak of the roof, waiting until after I installed the weathervane to remove it all so as to not damage the copper during installation. I am very pleased with how it looks and how easy it was to install. It’s purely cosmetic for me, but I’m sure cutting a venting opening in the roof peak would not have been that difficult. Also before installing the 2x4s, I applied caulk at screw holes to help prevent leaks. Be sure to caulk the sides of the base at the roof, but not the bottom, this is to allow any water that enters the cupola to run down and out. Before Spring, I will probably add some screening at the inside of the louver section to help prevent bees or other insects from nesting inside the cupola. Hopefully it holds up to the elements, only time will tell. I would recommend this to anyone with at least moderate carpentry skill.

Gorgeous on my little house :)
This item arrived quickly and after I got a handyman to put it on, it looks so good, sometimes I pretend I need something in the lawn so that I can just admire it without my neighbors thinking I am crazy haha. My neigbors think my house will fall apart since I am always doing little stuff to it. But if you are a first time home owner like me and a woman, you'd understand such excitement.Buy it. You won't be disappointed. The product came in three parts and I'd be lying to you if I told you I knew how he attached it. Because I didn't want to be ripped off by him when he first came to install, I watched a few youtube videos on it so it looked like I knew what I was talking about... :).All in all, excellent product and highly recommend it.

Great buy!
We are very happy with our purchase. I always read the reviews and got a great tip to line the louvered section with screening to prevent bees nests. Directions were very easy. We even called the owner to ask what product we could use to spray protect the copper roof. He answered right away and verified we could use spray polyurethane. It looks beautiful!

Cupola
Easy to install and looks great. I had to add screening inside the unit to keep bugs and other critters out.
