Perfect book that takes you through various steps with VBA programming.

Overview:As an experienced but not full-time Excel VBA coder I’m always looking for new books that can expand my knowledge of this programming language as well one I can recommend for those Excel pros looking to make the “leap” into VBA, especially for automating many routine and laborious tasks. I can heartily recommend the VBA Automation Cookbook for that sweet spot of Excel power users who wish they could finally learn this mysterious programming language that lives under the hood of their beloved spreadsheet program.ProsI very much liked the author’s step-by-step approach to showing how things are done with VBA, especially all of the screen shots. I hate reading technical books that describe tasks and having to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out how to actually accomplish it all. My skills are also somewhat out of date, so I really enjoyed learning how to customize the Ribbon which used to be extremely difficult (XML anyone?? Blecch). The object model, arrays and custom functions among other more difficult concepts are very clearly explained.ConsGive that Excel is now just one part of Microsoft’s PowerBI toolset I wish the author had at least discussed how Excel and specifically VBA fit into that system and how it can be best incorporated into a more fully fleshed out Business Intelligence infrastructure. Additionally, while I appreciated the discussion of how Excel can be automated via VBA to work with Word and PowerPoint I wish that the author has also discussed automating Outlook which I’ve found to be perhaps the most useful Excel automation tool I’ve used for creating files and emailing out hundreds of them with just one click. Maybe in the next book!

This book is very helpful for anyone needing VBA to automate excel tasks!

I should have bought the text version. The Kindle version is nearly impossible to find things I need help with!

Excellent book, very easy to follow with great examples.

This book is terrible. Do not purchase it if you are looking to learn VBA. It barely dives into any part of VBA, just overall too high level. It has maybe 5 pages on loops, with the most basic examples possible. Never really provides any examples with depth.
