Great game that's 10 years old
I bought this game almost 10 years ago for my old Window XP PC, and after so many years I decided to look it up and buy it for that Nostalgic feeling. First off I love the game though the graphics take a little getting used to since I am normally running Direct10x games with Graphics on Ultra-Max setting. Playing this game and seeing how much RTS games have improved since 10 years ago still mind boggles me. I'll only be giving a Tech Review which is really quick, as for a Game review...unless you grew up playing it, or it was one of your first RTS games I doubt you'll like it. Most people are looking for some new next gen game, and at the time this game was created it probably was. I've noticed alot of reviews complain that it looks choppy, you could count the pixels on the screen, or the units look like MineCraft quality...guess what this was made in 2001! over 12 years ago, don't expect it to compete to today's RTS like Starcraft 2. Now on to the Techie part of my review, My PC is running on Windows 7 Ultimate, and from my experience Installation was fast, smooth, and without any problems what so ever. I have a: i7 960 processor 12 GB's of RAM 500 7200rpm hard drive Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 graphics card Asus Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Motherboard So overall I can confirm that this is Windows 7 friendly (atleast for me). I've added some pictures so you guys can see what how the case looks like.

Great game, but you'll need an older computer
I absolutely love playing this game. I had the expansion already at home but had lost the original game. My only downside, which is my fault and not the games, is that my computer is apparently too "new" to run this game. So after getting this and the expansion installed, I could not run the game. After looking the problem up, it seems to happen more often than not these days. If you want to play this game I would recommend having a computer built before 2010 just to be safe, so you can have assurance that it will turn on and play.

Fails to run in single player without internet connection
I was unable to play this game after installing it. Once installed, I launched the game, then selected (single player) campaign from the main menu. My firewall popped up with a message saying Empire Earth was attempting to connect to the internet. The game then locked up. I have a dial-up connection that was not connected at the time. Repeated attempts to run the game caused the game to locked up again at the same point (with no error messages, even with internet connection working). If this game needs to have an ongoing internet connection while playing (single player), it should list that as a requirement so customers don't waste their money on a product like this. If you want to play a good RTS, play either Rise of Nations (historical RTS) or Universe at War (futuristic RTS) instead of this game.

Game I played years ago.
Game I played years ago! Not into the new games that are out there. This is me against the computer and sometimes I lose but can’t complain

Old school and loving it!
This game has still not lost it's luster much after 12 years. I play with my family and friends over a LAN and we go against the computers AI. It has a great balance of forces which require strict attention to play if you are going to win out against the computers. For higher skilled players there are more challenging levels to play on, so you can never really be too good, which means, it can always be an interesting game. A bit like Age of Empires but more detailed and just plain better. One of the top ten RTS games overall.

Great
It is a fun game and I have liked this game since I was young, I have played it for the last 8 years and I still enjoy playing it even though the graphics are not up to modern standards. Empire Earth 2 offers more options and is also fun, but a lot more complex. I have not played the newer ones, but this seems to be the simplest one and the most fun in many ways.

Husband's favorite.
My husband played this game when he was young and I wanted to buy him something worth while for Christmas. So, I bought him this! He plays it every night. Definitely a great gift especially, if your special someone likes to construct empires.

Got bored fast
Maybe this game just wasn't what I was looking for. It seemed like it would be. I wanted a city/world building game that would make good "brain candy" for when I wanted to relax after writing all day. I asked around on a couple of gaming boards and this was one of the top recommendations. I'm just not sure why. I used to play Ceasar, but wanted something a little more challenging, something more involved. Even though I wanted something as brain candy, I didn't want anything *too* easy-- I get bored fast. (All of which I said when I started asking around). Empire Earth has a great premise, but it's way too easy to "win" (without using any cheats) and not much of a challenge in the same way Ceasar was--but boy is it challenging in other ways! In EE you simply create however many virtual people you want--but once you've got them, you can't get rid of them. The only problem is that the pop cap is so low eventually you need to get rid of those guys on horses and replace them with guys in tanks...but you can't. You have to hope one of your virtual neighbors invades and kills off enough of your population for you to actually make a new army. Furthermore, there is no way to demolise those antiquated buildings. There comes a point where you can no longer do anything with the "archery" or "equestrian" military bases, but the buildings remain, taking up space. Unlike Ceasar and games like it, the people in EE are simply happy all the time. You don't need to collect taxes, worry about crime, deal with fires that start in your city, nothing. Everybody just goes along and does their job without ever complaining. No one ever moves out of your city. You don't have to figure out ways of attracting new citizens or deal with unemployment or *anything* that might make this even vaguely realistic. The only challenge was making sure I didn't accidently end up with too many virtual people too soon in the history of my game. Of course if you have fewer computer "gamers", you can have more people, but considering the only other "challenge" was getting attacked by your neighbors, I felt like I needed a few computer-player (AI) neighbors to keep things vaguely interesting. I feel like I spent most of my time watching my simulated citizens scurry about, collecting raw goods and occasionally fending off the enemy...but most of the time it was just "watch and wait" to advance to the next level because once I had the hang of how to build a city (took about a day) there wasn't much else to do, my city ran itself. All in all, I'm glad I bought this as a download version and only wasted six or seven bucks.
