Installs in just a few minutes, includes screwdriver
I installed this in just ten or fifteen minutes, using the excellent instructions on the iFixit website. Unless you know how to flash your drive/board, you'll just need to swap over the old controller board from your old Bluray drive, which is just a few phillips screws once you have the drive removed. My old drive stopped spinning, so I needed a replacement. This drive worked perfectly as soon as it was installed and was a great deal.

Used not new
Definitely wasn't new and it was dirty... my ps4 did recognize the drive and I was able to update without error. However, the drive would not accept or read (even when put in manually) any disc's and made weird noises.

Works great, a little stiff
Brothers ps4 would fail to load disk, switched out the optic drive with this one and once switching out the optic sister chip (i forget the technical term) it worked great. Gets a bit stiff manually entering the disk after the first insert and eject, but it will wear with time.

No new ps5
It works but it’s not plug and play you have to switch the daughter boards ( the chip board that is on the drive) and make sure it’s the correct bdp (bdp-20 in this case but there bdp-25 which would work too and bdp-10 and bdp-15 which can be swapped for each other but not bdp-20/25)number some guy on YouTube said you would have to solder the new chip to the old board but I skipped that and just switched the boards no soldering

Well I replaced mine and with new still don’t work.. I think my Hard drive is going switching to ps4pro anyway

Did not come with T8 tool. Is not new.
Did not come with the T8 tool it claimed it would. Item looked refurbished, not new and scuffed up. Item did work.

Does the Job
Is an fairly easy install if you know your way around the inside of your PS4 or have ever had to change the drive in PS3. My issues with this particular drive was I was under the impression it was a new one when ordering it. However, literally EVERY screw on the drive was stripped. I had to twist the daughter board to free up the screw so I could catch it with a pair of tweezers and remove it. Thankfully I didn't need that particular part...If this was a "genuine SONY" and "new" product their productivity is crap when assembling these drives. The original drive in my PS4 didn't have issues with stripped screws... The drive works however so I am happy enough...
