Short and sweet: the book, the exercises and the time commitment required
Seems to be working on my knees after a week and a half. I hope after the recommended 6 weeks that my tipped patella will resolve itself with these super simple exercises. I will agree with others that this could have been condensed but I understand the author wants to get paid for his expertise and research that is evident in the pages within the book. The best part of all these exercises is that the author's research indicates only about 5 minutes every other day of exercising and about 2 minutes of stretching have just as good results as stretching/strength programs that take much longer per day.

Fantastic informative detail even for physical therapy vets - Great value
I have had some horrific injuries over the years including 9 surgeries to my knees and a horribly painful bone graft. I have had years of physical therapy. After my last follow up surgery to my knee, they laughed and told me I didn't need to go to a physical therapist - because I "knew everything that I needed to do and had my own equipment".. And that was true. And yet, I found this book fantastic and learned so much. While I knew every single routine outlined, the thoughtful explanations of biomechanics and the "why" behind each of routine was incredibly informative and helpful. This is not a mere "Do A, B, C, D" book. The author explains in great detail each biomechanic component, what each routine does and how best to optimize each one - All informed using well documented research research. THANK YOU.

Knowledge is power! this book proves it.
Knowledge is power! this book proves it.I screwed up both my knees going to deep on a bodyweight squat lol silly i know. I believe my warm up was not great.I went to the doctor and he believed it was torn ligaments, he gave me an xray and told me i had fluid in my knees. No MRI, but I got Physical therapy.I did my Physical therapy to the letter for weeks. I was great for a while, my quads got fuller actually but the pain came back to me after a while. Im into fitness and bodybuilding and I knew progressive overload was the key in the back of my mind and jim johnson confirmed this in his book. My physical therapist failed to mention that i had to use weights to progress. After doing weeks of bodyweight quad exercises, your body needs more resistance to give it a chance to grow stronger.I really enjoyed this book and his routine is so simple but I have to give him my respect and recommend you buy this book. After doing his routine for a few weeks, my knees are so much better. If your doing PT for knee problems then you should graduate to this book please. I dont personally know this guy or anything but trust me, this book is gold!

Great book to look after your knee
This book by the author is a good and comprehensive book on improving your knee. While the book spends several pages trying to explain the knee and it feels like the author is filling pages to justify the book, the exercises mentioned are very effective. I have personally seen the difference in just 2 weeks. It is surprising how little awareness there is out there on how to maintain proper functioning of the knee through simple exercises. I would recommend it. The price is a little high for the book, but the way i looked at it was that I would have spent a lot more if I had gone to see a doctor or physiotherapist about the same, and I have the book with me to refer to as many times I wan to.8/10/2016 Update : I have been doing the exercises from this book for the last 3 months quite regularly and I have seen a marked difference in the pain in my knee. I do aerobics (Zumba) thrice a week and my knees used to hurt and did not allow me to bend them much. Now I can bend my knees without pain. I also feel more flexibility and springiness in my knee.

What a ripoff
This author has 2 books available. They are pretty much the EXACT SAME BOOK, but this one is more than twice the price. I agree with other reviewers that the other book entitled "Treat Your Own Knees" could have been a pamphlet, but that's fine. For $8 and change, I'll take it and incorporate it into my other knee rehab activities. Neither book has all that much to offer. They basically both boil down to strengthen the quads, stretch, and work on proprioception (3 exercises total! No kidding!). I much more wholeheartedly recommend books by Dr. Robert Klapper and Lynda Huey. I got tremendous benefit from both of their books.

Good info for knee problems
My knee was badly injured when I was hit by a car a few months ago. While I had some PT, it was pretty limited. I continued to have a lot of trouble simply walking around. Then I ran across this book. I added several exercises and was very relieved to find a scientific basis for exhausting myself and increasing my knee and leg pain to tears. After following suggestions for 3-4 weeks, my walking is much improved, as is my balance. My whole leg, both of them since one must do the exercisers on both sides, feels more flexible and less like a club. I cannot do some stretches, notably the quad stretch, as described, but after some searching I was able to find an alternate version that is helpful. I am a healthcare professional who works in Physical Medicine and I am very pleased with the info offered in this book. Yes I walk with a limp and I cannot bend my knee (yet) to 90 degrees. But now I do feel as though my knee will give out, nor that I will fall. A big improvement!

Less than two weeks doing the exercises I'm already seeing great results.
Bought this book a few months ago but just browsed it at first. It contains lots of information on "how the knee works" while what I wanted was a quick list of things to do. A bit like when a lawyer takes a math book and just wants formula, not a demonstration. Anyway, I've started to work out a bit and my knees were hurting so I decided to give it a go. The book says you should expect results in 6 weeks. I'm in my second week and I can already see a big improvement. Really big - from not being able to run more than one block without starting to feel pain to being able to run until my lungs complain rather than my knee. The book is well organized, too. At the end there's two pages with a schedule (do this Monday, Wednesday and Friday and this Tuesday and Thursday) that sums up the exercises. I just made a photocopy of those two pages and hanged it on the wall.

Genius in it's simplicity
While waiting for diagnosis of a running injury I decided to self diagnose with the help of Dr Google and concluded I could recover with focused exercise and chose this book. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The genius of this book is it's simplicity, simple explanation and reasoning followed by simple exercises. This results in very good understanding of what you need to do and then exercises that you actually do because you believe they will work. No overblown pseudoscience and after only a week I can feel the benefits.

A waste of money
A waste of money, consisting of 85 pages of patronising explanation of the knee’s structure, 10 pages of meaningless academic references and 2 pages of physio exercise diagrams which any sports person will know anyway. Don’t buy this book- it’s a rip off.
