As You Like It (Folger Shakespeare Library)

This is a great edition of one of Shakespeare’s best play, and has wonderful annotations.

I'm a college English professor, and this is my favorite version of the play, because it has the play's text on the right and a wonderful set of helpful notes and terrific illustrations on the left. It makes for a seamless reading, and if you want more you simply turn your head instead of flipping to the end notes or looking at footnotes.

Everything about this book makes reading Shakespeare fun. The actual text is presented on the page in a way that makes it easy to follow. And the page facing the text provides explanations for the language in the text that will enable you to understand what you are reading.

I am reviewing the Kindle edition of the Folger Library edition of As You Like It. This is important because Amazon seems to have mixed reviews of various editions together. Those who are criticizing the formatting are talking about something else,or are not reading it on Kindle Fire. This is just like the FL edition of any other of the Bards plays. No problems with the formatting, helpful notes, but not quite enough of them. Unlike the FL print editions, the notes are not on the opposite page but are accessed by clicking on the pertinent passage, which is underlined in the usual Kindle footnote manner.It is easy to use and if you want to read this play or any of Shakespeare's other plays you won't go wrong with the FL editions, whether Kindle or paper.

The Folger edition for Kindle is great. A little difficult to switch back and forth, but easy to read, because I can make the font nice and big.

I really like the Folger edition of Shakespeare's plays. They have vocabulary and explanations on the left side of the page and the full unabridged play on the right side of the page. This has been great since you can skip the notes when they aren't needed, but they are handy when you run into something you need help understanding better. No need for a cliff notes book or looking annotations up in the back. These edition has made reading Shakespeare with my 11 & 12 year old reading group pleasant and fun and would be great for a a college student or anyone just wanting to enjoy his plays more.

An excellent source. Well laid out with translations of words and phrases on page opposite the text.Authorative comments before and after the actual play more than worthwhile reading.We used this as a text for an adult class with excellent result.It was actually exciting and enjoyable reading.

This is a very great piece of literature. It captures the depth of Shakespeare work & I find myself captivated continually. I highly recommend to anyone looking to expand their understanding of Shakespeare

Naturalmente la recensione *non* è riferita al contenuto. Shakespeare è Shakespeare, e questo è sufficiente. Parlando dell'edizione, sono stato estremamente soddisfatto per il modo in cui le annotazioni brevi e lunghe sono state adattate al formato elettronico. C'è qualche glitch qua e là, ma nel complesso la lettura trasferisce al contesto ebook il piacere di avere in mano una buona edizione di studio.

At the of 23, now I am 82, we were suppossed to stage this play & was to portray Touchstone. It never happened. The play as I now see it; is is light in substance but its level of verbosity is very high with an air of intellectual disposition, not my choice for a play.

Its just awesome... True love story...
