Hooke Road Tailgate Table Foldable Cargo Shelf Compatible with Jeep Wrangler TJ 97-06

Item was packaged well and came with perfect detailed instructions. Even came with an outline of where to drill the holes. I did not use the hardware (screws) because I don't have a rivet gun. However I did use my own self tapping screws for metal and worked effortlessly. There was a drill bit that came as well but I did not need it. Shelf fits perfectly when folded up and locks into place, without compromising anything in the back space of the Jeep trunk. Very sturdy, and well made product overall. Can fit a tackle box (pictured) and probably a small 6-12 can cooler as well....perfect!! Nothing bad to say about this product at all.

For the price it’s great quality!! Easy to install just be mind full of placement! Sturdy shelve and is supper handy as extra space! Looks clean and not bulky or tacky! Highly recommend as an addition to any jeep!

It does not fit perfect on the TJ tail gate. You have to move it around a bit to ensure the bolt holes line up on a flat surface. I mounted mine a little high and left to make it miss the recessed areas. Also only 4 stars because they don't tell you that you need to own a Nut-Cert tool to install it with the included hardware.

Used this table and it is FANTASTIC. I don't know how we offroaded so long without one. Only thing is the little clasps on the side are a bit flimsy and should be more sturdy. I also worry about the corners and kids running around so I wish there was an option to buy little bumpers for it, or a rubber wrap for the edge, but otherwise perfect.

This is not a direct bolt in quick item. If you have good DYI skills you can make it work. Otherwise look for something else. I installed the shelf on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport TJ. Let me give you a heads up… 1. The 10mm twist drill that comes with the kit is a nightmare. I drilled a small at first. Then, I used there to finalize the diameter to the Rivet Nut. The first hole I drilled was a disaster. It untwisted and bent. I’ve never seen a drill do that before. It was like it was made out of soft lead. 2. The template is absolutely useless. After trying to make it work, I gave up and made my own. 3. I had to drill different mounting hole locations on the brackets because the holes they supplied are right on the creases in the tail gate. Watch out for areas where there are faint spot welds. There are strengthening brackets behind them. 4. Rivet nuts are not my of choice hardware. Be prepared to make or buy a Rivet Nut tool. I made mine from a long bolt, 2 nuts and a small piece of metal. I saw several U-Tube videos that show you how to make one. I just googled “ how to make a rivet nut tool” and a bunch of videos will show you how. Good Luck and enjoy the project.

Installation was easy, works great! Easy to use and folds up and out of the way when not in use.

CAUTION - will NOT fit 2004 TJ VENTED tailgate, bottom holes end up in the vented portion with no way to attach. I will fabricate a back plate to make this work versus sending back. That's apparently what the last guy did as when I opened the package some hardware was pre-assembled and the template was all marked up with holes in it.

Easy to install, takes about 30 mins. Straight forward and works great. Have only used it once so far, but worked perfectly for lunch on the trail.

Doesn't fit a 2003 Wrangler TJ ..... needed to modify to make it work .... was dissapointed.

Unless you already own a pneumatic riveting nut gun, which is in the installation directions only, then, you can't install. These guns are NOT cheap !!!!! Sending my shelf back and now, I have drilled holes in my Jeep tailgate.
