The Flash by Grant Morrison & Mark Millar (The Flash (1987-2009))

The Flash at Its Most Fun - Morrison & Millar's Brilliance
Years ago, comic's Ovid Grant Morrison and comic's embarrassing genius Mark Millar traded places with the greatest "Flash" writer, Mark Waid, handing the reigns of their godlike "JLA" run to their friend. As Waid took on the "Justice League", Grant and Mark tackled the Fastest Man Alive, to glorious results. Morrison's and Millar's "Flash" is an absolute classic, among the greatest stories ever told with the character, and still just as vibrant and delightful as when it was first released. Easy to pick up and read for new readers, safe for kids, and still just as brilliant and rewarding for more demanding audiences as the best of the medium, Morrison's and Millar's time on "The Flash" is a Must-Buy. Highly Recommended.

Good Ideas
I liked seeing some of the weird stuff Grant Morrison came up with for the flash. But as a whole the stories are better as individual ideas than cohesive stories. Many of the endings are convenient and make less sense the more you think about them.Overall I'd say these are worth checking out for the concepts, not necessarily the stories themselves. Can Morrison do a flash story like all star Superman, please? That would be amazing.

It's as good as Flash stories get
The writers take Flash as far as they could with the character, giving him a tremendous speed boost. This is the best version of the character. Barry Allen is good, but Wally West was the best Flash, period.

Love Grant Morrison's writting. Loved the black flash storyline.

Morrison honed in.
This is a paperback that truly showcases why 90's Wally West Flash is so near and dear to so many comic book fans' hearts. Morrison and Millar really delves into awesome abstract forces for Flash to deal with.

Its...so....90s
Even though this is Grant Morrison, its still so very 90s... probably a time when Morrison was not fully off his leash and allowed to go real far out there. However, it still has Morrison hallmarks of taking a character, breaking them down and really thinking outside the box, relative to the character. Its a good collection to have if you're a Morrison fan and sort of a completion-ist.The 90s hallmarks though, such as hokey dialogue and hit and miss artwork also permeates this book. For example, the visual design of the villain 'The Suit' is just hard to look at... its may induce seizures and/or vomiting-- yet the idea of a costume being a villain is such a Grant Morrison thing to do.Though he once was Morrison's protégé, I've never been too impressed with Mark Millar's works, and I wonder what the mix % is between Morrison and Millar. I'm thinking Morrison is probably more responsible for overall story ideas/outline/plotting while Millar is the one who actually scripted the whole thing... resulting in Wally West declaring he's the 'fastest man alive' every 5 pages or something.Still, its Morrison, it has very Morrison things in it, and is an interesting look back at one of comic's most famed/infamous writer's history. Well worth the $13 for this book.

Brilliant
Brimming over with great ideas, a perfect blend of science fiction and superheroes. Slightly marred by the inclusion of Mark Millar's painfully self indulgent fourth wall breaking short at the end, but not so much that I would give this anything less than five stars.

So-so
I bought this for a present, so haven't read it all. However, I got the impression that it would have been better if Morrison had been the only writer on it.
