Speed As Advertised!
My least favorite behavior of almost every flash drive I own? SLOW speed for random small files. Face it, if you're going to back up some installation folders, there are going to be more than a few of those pesky little ones. Watching the transfer going from FLYING along when you copy the big ones, then seeing the transfer drop to 1/100th or even 1/1000th the speed? It just bugs the heck out of me. This flash drive is a solid exception. Worst case, maybe you'll see a 1/10th drop, give or take. Sweet!! OK, maybe the random write speed didn't meet advertised - but it is close enough for me. I made no effort to find the fastest port on my PC - that is around back. This is up front - the one I use all the time. The fact the case is metal is a real plus. The activity light is red, to match the FIRE theme, and that cute Swarovski crystal. The cap is removable, but attaches quite firmly to the back. A lanyard might be a challenge. OK, if you use one, you're going to lose that cap - probably. Thank you, TCELL.

VERY Fast and Supports Linux fstrim command
Because an SSD performs best when transferring LARGE files but poorly when transferring lots of small (4K) files most vendors "forget" to publish 4k transfer speed. The TCell Fire 4K transfers 4K files MUCH faster than the published speed. I am using some of the half dozen that I purchased to replace eSATA connected SDDs because of EXTREME speed when connected to USB 3.2 gen 1 ports, Linux fstrim support via UASP and the convenience of not having to bother with cables and external power supplies. A rules file may have to be added in directory ( /etc/udev/rules.d ). This filename will work ( 50-usb-trim-TCELL_090c:3282.rules ). The file should contain this line ( ACTION=="add|change", ATTRS{idVendor}=="090c", ATTRS{idProduct}=="3282", SUBSYSTEM=="scsi_disk", ATTR{provisioning_mode}="unmap" ). Do NOT unplug while data is being written (flickering LED). This USER error may cause corruption and data loss with ANY USB connected device.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
Don't IGNORE the poor reviews of this product. I did and now am paying the price. Thankfully I only had a couple hundred gb's of inconsequential files on it when it failed. In the middle of a file transfer onto another laptop it lost connection and could no longer be detected by either a win11 or win10 device with known good usb ports that were fully functional with all other flashdrives and devices. Can't find contact info for a warranty claim. At this point I've written off this thing as a learning experience. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Speed is good (300MB sustained) for the price
Arrived on time, pre-formatted with exFAT file system. 466GB formatted capacity (which is enough for me.) I copied two .zip files, both were around 36GB. Sustained transfer rate of around 280MB/sec. Coped another 6GB of family pictures and videos (approx. 10,000 files in total) and transfer rate sea-sawed up and down, averaging 190MB/s. For me this is acceptable performance for the price. Only nit-pick is the drive was quite hot to the touch when I removed it. Not exactly burning-finger level of hot, but nearly. Also I like the included UASP and controller - was a big reason for my purchase.

UASP not always supported!
I bought this drive only because it was advertised as "UASP supporting" (it is almost impossible to find any USB flash drive or USB SSD looking like a "USB flash drive" that supports UASP, so this one was very rare). But in the same time I bought also here on Amazon another USB device - 2Tb SSK, which is also very small and very cheap (considering its 2Tb capacity). The second one was not advertised as "UASP supporting", they just mentioned a high speed. However, it was found that the second one (SSK) was indeed UASP supporting, moreover, it, despite lack of advertising, the second one supports UASP in any and every scenario - as long as your OS, drivers and USB ports support UASP, it will work as a UAS-device. Not so, unfortunately, with this TCELL drive. I tested it on two notebooks (ThinkPad X230 and P71) with 3 operating systems - Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows 7 (my Windows 7 is special and it supports UASP too), on built-in USB ports and with Expresscards USB3.0 of various types. The results are here: On ThinkPad X230 with Windows 11: 1) Intel controlled USB3.0 ports) - no UASP for TCELL (but the other SSK drive - UASP supported); 2) ExpressCard on FrescoLogic chip - both drives UASP supported; 3) ExpressCard on RENESAS chip (2nd generation one) - both drives UASP supported; 4) ExpressCard on ASMedia chip - none support UASP (probably because ASM chip indeed was blacklisted for UASP as promised on Windows 11 and 10, but it supports UASP on WIndows 7 with specific drivers); On ThinkPad X230 with Windows 10: - exactly as with Windows 11 (see above); On ThinkPad X230 with Windows 7 and UASP drivers supporting Windows 7: 1) Intel controlled USB3.0 ports) - no UASP for either drive - this TCELL and another - SSK ; 2) ExpressCard on FrescoLogic chip - both drives UASP supported; 3) ExpressCard on RENESAS chip (2nd generation one) - both drives UASP supported; 4) ExpressCard on ASMedia chip - both drives UASP supported; On ThinkPad P71 with Windows 11: 1) Intel controlled USB3.1 ports) - no UASP for TCELL (but the other SSK drive - UASP supported); however, if attached before system started UASP also becomes available for this TCELL - after restart it started working as a "UAS device) 2) ExpressCard on FrescoLogic chip - both drives UASP supported; 3) ExpressCard on RENESAS chip (2nd generation one) - both drives UASP supported; 4) ExpressCard on ASMedia chip - not tested (don't have suitable 34mm ExpressCard on ASMedia chip in my possession); On ThinkPad P71 with Windows 10: - exactly as with Windows 11 (see above); On ThinkPad P71 with Windows 7: 1) Intel controlled USB3.1 ports) - no UASP for TCELL (but the other SSK drive - UASP supported); 2) ExpressCard on FrescoLogic chip - both drives UASP supported; 3) ExpressCard on RENESAS chip (2nd generation one) - both drives UASP supported; 4) ExpressCard on ASMedia chip - not tested (don't have suitable 34mm ExpressCard on ASMedia chip in my possession); so, comparing this TCELL drive with other UASP-enabled drives, I could say for certain - its UASP capability although available, it works not in all scenarios where other UASP-enabled drives work (may be in 80% cases or so). Talking about the drive itself - it is very nice, very small (much smaller than you can expect from NVMe posing as a "USB flash drive") - it is actually much smaller than most of regular USB flash-drive - just in the "smallest" league of these if talking about size. It is strong, but relatively light-weight; cup fits firmly. When inserted, it is visible as "a device with removable storage" - like any other USB flash-drive. Came formatted as exFAT (can be re-formatted as FAT32 or as NTFS, of course, if you wish). Visible as a boot device, if you so wish. Has light indication (red color) when active. Hope it will last.

Not 512 GB
The drive will only have 466 GB of storage out of the 512 GB as advertised. I just formatted the drive the NTFS file system and that is all you get. Somewhat deceitful. You loose 46 GB and that is a lot of storage too loose, or, not to have. Too bad.

Drive overheats with extended use.
Ordered this drive to run storage and file backup for my network computer. This was 2 years ago from writing this review. Using it was as easy as a flash drive can be, and storing files was easy. That is where the positive feedback stops unfortunately... anytime I would attempt to recover the data stored the drive would lock up, and Windows would say it encountered an error accessing the device. Unplugging it, I noticed it was really warm... nothing a few mins in the freezer couldn't fix... took forever to get my data off the device because everytime it would get warm it would fail. It also wouldn't go faster than 50MB/s before dropping to almost 700kB/s. I got my data recovered from the drive, but the reliability of the drive was horrible. Windows still says it needs to repair it, but then tells me it is unrepairable. Since it has been 2 years since I purchased the drive I'm SOL on any kind of warranty. Just know to test data pulls on this drive if you purchase it.
