Anxiety Sucks! A Teen Survival Guide
L**T
Not a survival guide at all.
Throughout the book, anxiety is referred to as 'your dictator', anxiety is spoken about in the third person, i.e 'your dictator', 'he wants you to think this'. etc. EG. Chapter two begins "So how does this whole anxiety thing work? Well, unfortunately, your dictator has some pretty covert operations. He really doesnt want to get caught and he doesnt want you to build a defence against him. His work is slow and methodically. But don't worry, I've been infiltrating hm for some time and know all of his moves". Page 72, "So ask yourself what situations make my dictator salivate ? What situations give me false alarms?".There are some some good strategies and examples in the book, I think both I and my teen could have learned something from this without the distraction of 'The Dictator', who totally undermined any potential for good advice in the book unfortunately.

I loved the book and found some strategies we can use
I bought this for my 13 year old son who has generalized anxiety. I loved the book and found some strategies we can use. My son, however, did not like the book as much because the word "vomit" is repeated so often it caused him anxiety. None of the three examples were of "generalized anxiety" ( illnesses, flu, food expiry dates) so I think he didn't find it as useful. As a parent, I found I can definitely modify some of the strategies offered and we can practice them at home.
