Low-Cost Wavemaker Pump
This little Hygger wave pump is a very good value. Don't let anybody tell you that it takes $300 to build a good wave pump. The Hygger pump is low on features. As you would expect at this price. But a wave pump is a wave pump. They are propellers used to move the water inside a fish tank. The level of quality and features differ greatly among the price points. But they all function the same way. This Hygger device will move water as well as any pump of the same size. What you get in the more expensive device is a better build quality and more features. This one does not have WiFi. It has no App control. All of the control are on the included console.I use this pump to add movement to a 20-gallon long. I have it on the lowest setting. This tank has three filter-feeding shrimp. They grab moving particles from the water and eat it. The particles have to be tiny. Flakes and crushed flakes are too big. I needed enough water movement to keep the food powder in circulation. This Hygger pump does just that at its lowest setting. Too bad Hygger does not make a smaller pump.Setting the power levels, wave modes, and frequencies will take a little getting used to. There are four digits on the display panel. The first digit is the code for the time of day. A day is broken into intervals. You cannot change the intervals. You can program the power level for each time interval. Level 1 has a maximum power output of 40%. In my opinion, it should be 20% to accommodate smaller tanks. It goes up to 100% as you increase the number. The third is the wave mode. The last digit is the frequency of the waves. The lower that number, the more quicker the wave pulses. A higher number will give a gentler water movement. You may need some kind of a screen if you have smaller fish in the tank. The pump is powerful and could draw in small fish. The easiest way is to use those garlic nets. Go to the produce section of your grocery store and look for the garlic. They come in a sock-like net tubing. Wash the tubing and soak it in water. You want to remove any traces of garlic. Then cut a 2" piece and slip it over the pump head. And there you have an excellent net to prevent smaller fish from getting drawn into the pump. This is an excellent wave pump. It is nowhere near the quality, power, and features as a Vortech MP10, but then again, it's not $300. Save the Vortechs and the Maxspect Gyres for your reef tank. Those high dollar pumps are not needed in a freshwater tank.Highly recommended for the smaller fish-only tank or invertebrate tank. Spend more money for reef tank use.

Great little piece of hardware for your tank!
I bought this to use in my freshwater planted tank. I'm running a 17 gallon ADA 60P tank with a Fluval 307 canister filter, along with CO2 injection. Because I'm using lily pipes, the pressure of the flow in the tank was creating some dead spots in the circulation between the rocks. I intended to use this to add more circulation in the tank, and because it was small and magnetic, I could position it wherever I needed. It arrived packaged very well, and was easy to setup. The instructions are pretty straightforward, and I had it set up in a few minutes. This tiny little thing is strong, at the minimum 40% power it was still pushing water around, I imagine it would be perfect for a nano reef tank, or for some additional flow in a larger tank. It has several modes, one of the most convenient being feeding mode where it stops the pump for 10 minutes.I stopped using it because I added some neocaridina shrimp to my tank and I'm worried the pump will suck them up and spit them out in pieces. I suppose you could just cover it in mesh netting or panty hose, but after moving the pipes of my filter to different locations I managed to find a spot that circulated the water where I needed it to.One thing I wish was programmed in was while using feeding mode, if it was not just a 10 minute timespan. When cleaning the tank, doing water changes, and trimming down the plants, it would be nice to have a manual start/stop function without unplugging it.

Impossible to program
I cant understand for the life of me how this has good reviews! Its sucks! I have attempted several time to program and just gave up! Its on default mode and judging by the diagram listed on here its not working right. Its 12:47pm and the first number says 0! I dont see how that can be. That number is not listed as an option. It must be malfunctioning! Its now reading 0801and its barely doing anything. I shuts on and off putting out very short little bursts! I wish I would have returned it a long time ago! I will stick with Jebao from here on out! Supposedly its on default so the numbers and flow should change throughout the day. The numbers change but flow dosnt! It just does the same thing all day short tiny bursts! ! Beside that It has these 4 rubber prongs that attach it to the magnet and one of the rubber prongs broke right away so I only have 3 and its constantly needing to be put back in the holes! I hate this wavemaker! The worst I have ever bought and it isnt cheap! I am about ready to trash it and buy a jebao! Then use this for down bottom and add a tiny bit of flow because thats all I can get from it!
