While freshening up the passenger door hardware on my ‘96 Vette I experienced the typical aged, brittle plastic syndrome. Somehow I was successful in removing the clips (there are two per door) without breaking them but reinstalling one caused it to ‘explode’ and disintegrate. There are two door control rods per door and they are 4mm or 5/32” diameter, essentially the same size. The official GM parts listing breakdown for my car uses a different part number for the keepers than what’s listed here but these fit perfect and are far, far less expensive. The correct Corvette part number is 16607593 and at a ‘discounted’ price you get ten keepers (all the same clip direction, of which you’re better off having the two directions of attachment here with the red and green parts) for the amazing low price of $41.10! That doesn’t include shipping either. Buy these off Amazon, can’t complain at all.

Extremely surprised a I found such an obscure part on Amazon. Very cheap and you get spares to go in the glovebox. Supposedly made of a thermoplastic. Old one lasted 22 years. Took 5-10 seconds to snap on after I figured out how to install. Slip the round part over the bar and then line up the other end over the hole. If the other side still has the plastic clip then you can see how it goes on (mirror image). I used a 8" socket wrench extender to push it and snap it into the hole. Easy. Right one is green and the left one is red plastic.

These aren’t caburator clips, but that’s GM’s over educated engineers design to fail
