An excellent microscope for anyone's skill level
I had not used a microscope since high school, so I had to relearn everything. This microscope is much better than anything used 40 years ago. it is a very nice piece of equipment that will allow any level of skill to pursue their quest into the microscopic world. Highly recommend it. It appears that it should last a life time. The camera worked well, easy to install software. It is amazing that such precision is available for such reasonable prices.

Great customer service
Great customer service. We were missing a camera and they sent us a new one FedEx. Microscope and camera work great.

No OSX Drivers.
The description is misleading. I cannot get this to work with my Macintosh system. The disk provided did not include OSX drivers, and when I contacted OMAX support I was met with no reply. It seems like a fine device, but I now have something which does not work as advertised.

This truly answered my needs
Ok,,, it's been a longtime since I worked with this type of Microsoft (college). I was looking for something my kids can enjoy, and get them to be interested in science, and discovery. This truly answered my needs. The kids love, and it's very easy to maneuver. It has bright light, and does not get hot. The web cam is so-so but I guess for the price it's understandable. I would highly recommend to upgrade the webcam to a higher resolution if you are looking to use it as a teacher and project the findings. Overall, I am happy with it. If you find this tip helpful, please indicate below so others may benefit as well.

All metal .. Great Microscope ...
Seems like a great microscope and works, so far, with no problems. Be aware there is NOTHING included in the box. No manual, list of parts, directions, setup info, inventory list (what's in the box), inspected by ... With some searching, a manual was available on the internet/Omax site. My box had been opened and resealed ... as far as I can tell, nothing missing. Viewing head was NOT screwed on and came off when microscope removed from foam/plastic bag. It was well packed (a good thing), since the box was obviously dropped and had a dent in one corner.

Decent Scope, Middling Service
The scope itself is a decent beginner. It worked like a charm right out of the box. However, my scope came with a scratch on the light source housing which shows up as a dark smudge at certain focus levels and numerous attempts to contact OMAX support have not been fruitful. The only contact I've had from them is several automated emails notifying me not to contact Amazon if I have an issue, which threw some red flags to be sure. I'm still enjoying my microscope so I can't give them too much flak, but I wish that their service was a little better.

Read this if you can't get the camera detected
The microscope is great for it's value, unfortunately it seems that the camera is not detected. I had the same issue and fixed it by plugging it to a USB hub, works perfectly fine now. Why is it fixed that way? I don't know, maybe there is some firmware incompatibility but I had the same issue with a FLIR camera and the hub does fix it.

I wish I read the latest reviews for this product on Amazon. I bought it because of the trinocular and camera feature which is not correct. they supplied me with binocular model and although the camera etc was all there its not meant to do what I bought it for. very disappointed, utter waste of time and frustrated with returns and everything. Do not recommend this to anyone.

This was bought was a Christmas present from my wife and I'm reviewing this on her account. It was the trinocular microscope with a digital camera in the third eye piece. On the plus side this is a lovely microscope, well engineered and nicely made. It has a good, heavy feel and is very well put together. The controls are fairly easy to figure out and when you have done so it's easy to use. I'm new to this, so it took a little while. But it's all working now and I'm really pleased with it. So...why only 3 stars? Firstly there were no set up instructions with the microscope. Nothing whatsoever. This may be an error by the distributor, but a leaflet explaining how to get started would have been useful to say the least. There was absolutely nothing included in the package. Secondly the software CD didn't work. I'm an IT professional, so I tried a few different techniques. But nothing. I concluded that this was a faulty disc. Fortunately the standard Win 10 operating system on my laptop supports this as a plug and play digital camera, so you don't actually need the Omex software. But I hoped the Omex software would provide something useful so I went onto their website and download the software for free from there. It is basically fairly simple and old fashioned photo editing software, probably not worth bothering with. Finally the lenses and different parts of the microscope are all well made, but they are delicate as you can imagine. So it would have been nice to have a set of caps for each lens. For example when you swap out one set of eye pieces a rubber cap would be very useful to protect them again dust and dirt. So a few gripes about the accessories provided in the package by the distributor, but no complaints about the microscope itself, I love it
