Modern Basics: Easy Quilts to Fit Your Budget, Space, and Style

I purchased this book as part of my library. I have looked through so many quilting books only to find that most of them have boring designs, are repetitive with each other, or have no illustrations to inspire you into making your own creation. The title of the book explains exactly what it contains. The designs are basics, but have a little edge to them so they blend the traditional with a modern flair. You won't go wrong getting this book. I purchased it through Amazon.com as this is a site I trust and have been a repeat customer for many years. Amazon.com has such a great selection, and I can usually find hard-to-find items that are not available in my area, plus I benefit from free shipping when spending $25 or more! You won't go wrong getting this book if you want something that is different from the norm, and has projects that won't be too difficult to create.

I really like this book. When I ordered it I really didn't know what to expect. It was a happy surprise to see it fits my needs of very easy and fast quilts, that can be made with fabric I already have in my stash. The designs go from very simple but charming to more detailed. But very fresh and modern. The directions are easy to follow and there's lots of sewing tips. I love that the author gives options of different quilt sizes so that you can choose from and don't have to do the math on your own.

Even though I knew the book would be more on the basic/beginner style of quilting I decided to give this book a look-see as I like the modern styles of patchwork that are currently the rage. Great book with lots of eye candy and instructions. You get 14 designs; each is made from just one block - very easy - but still makes for great designs the way the author uses the fabrics/blocks to highlight the patterns. The author has a very popular blog which is how I found out about the book.

After seeing this book advertised on a quilting show, I ordered two of them. My friend and I are into quick and easy quilt construction. Since receiving "Easy Quilts" ( a little over a month ago) I have made two and planned one more quilt top using the patterns and ideas in this book. Easy to read, great color photography and explicit instructions, this book makes quilting so much more enjoyable for me. Plus, I can play with color and fabric selection and the patterns morph into my own creations. Exciting stuff!

I have enjoyed reading through this book and getting lots of inspiration. I like the author's attitude. take little bites and soon you will have something you can be proud of. I love the determination to quilt not the determination to be perfect. I think some of these can be made into runners, pillows, etc. EJOY

Although, I haven't made a quilt from the book yet, I found the patterns easy to follow, great color selection, and products needed for the patterns are available. I'm sure, when I am done with the quilt I am making, I will try one from this book.

The book arrived in a timely manner and was just what I wanted. It was a gift for my quilting daughter-in-law. Couldn't ask for a better buying experience. She loved it! :o)
