Forget the book, watch the film
The film is a glossy and enjoyable courtroom procedural starring Ed Norton in his film debut. This, the novel it was based on, is terribly cheesy and I found it unreadable. It describes the "hard melons" of a female lawyers buttocks in her formal suit - things like that. Corny.

Primal Fear
This book was bought as a gift for a friend as I think its one of the best reads around in a long time. All of those to whom I have recommended this book agree. The story line grips you from the outset and continues to twist and turn right to the finale with a most unexpected ending that takes your breath away. An absolutely awesome read, that you will not be able to put down as you are on tenterhooks all the way through; the sequel 'Show of Evil' Show Of Evil is not quite the full 5 star rating but still a good 4 star+ and great read that explains some of the findings in the first book.Personally I wouldn't have cast Richard Gere as Martin Vail in the film and I really don't think the film does this novel any justice whatsoever. As I said I have recommended this book to friends and acquaintances from all walks of life and so far haven't received a bad review... Primal FearShow Of EvilPrimal Fear
