Excellent Game. But Nothing Much New Here.
By this point unless you are living under a rock you have probably heard of Minecraft even if you have never played a video game. It has definitely entered pop culture. So maybe you’ve played it before. So is it worth it having on the Wii U? Well that depends on what your system of choice is.If you don’t own it on any of the other ones it’s a good one. Not as big as the one on Xbox one. But still a lot of fun. I wish I could add stars to it because of the Wii U gamepad. After all, it’s nice that if someone is watching TV you can grab it and play most games still. But unfortunately this doesn’t work great with the Wii U. This is because you need a good size screen to be able to read the item names in the game. Even learning what they look like it’s hard to tell what you’re looking at. Doh!As far as the game itself is, it’s fun as always. There are some nice nods to Mario since this is the Nintendo version. And there is a fun battle mode too. But in general it’s the same game.If you like Minecraft it’s worth owning. If you never liked it, this will not change your mind. I personally enjoy playing it. Never gets old to me. So I can give it 4.5 stars. Just don’t go looking for something new. And don’t expect the gamepad to be as cool as it usually is on games. Then you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent Fun & Educational
I purchased this for my children who are 7 and 9 and they absolutely love it. I have tried Minecraft in a variety of platforms from iOS to multiple consoles and so far this version has been one of the most fun, with the largest variety of skin packs geared for children. Currently the kids are dressed up are a variety of people & animals (it changes daily) from the Mario world. The interface is easy to use with some basic reading and the ability to be in "creative" mode allows the kids to get materials, build and craft without the more hard "survival" setting so that they can be creative without being attacked. In addition, the ability to keep inventory on death and set the settings for each player connecting allows us to lock down the game so their worlds aren't destroyed and random people don't join their games, making it fairly secure for their play time.As a game (Wii U or otherwise) Minecraft can be both fun and educational. My children learn to gather (or create) different resources to build a variety of items, they learn how to build both simple and complex areas and even "machines" using red stone and switches. They can learn the basics of commerce by having to trade items to the villagers as well. The game can be fun for both children and adults.

Too much money! Shame on YOU!
We do not do a lot of screens and technology. but my son likes to play on a Wii that we purchased from a neighbour boy, about two or three years ago! The wii is probably like 10 or 15 years old, but he likes to play! We have neighbours who have an Xbox and he likes to play Minecraft on their Xbox. I decided instead of purchasing an expensive Xbox, I would purchase a game for the wii! When I receive the game I noticed that it was a Wii U game and not compatible with our system! I tried to return the game in this company would not allow me. So, my husband tried to take it to another gaming place and the cost of the game is only $8! I paid over $80! This person or company that is selling this game on Amazon should feel terrible! How are the world could you possibly charge $80 for an eight dollar game and then not even consider taking it back??? You should be ashamed!

Used games may not work
Beware of used games that have not been tested. It's awaste of everyone involved's money and time. This game wasn't refundable and it was unclear how to get it refunded since the seller didn't accept returns.

FUN Game
Fun Fun game.I bought this for the kids on the WIIu saw ho much fun it was and got a PC version for my self.Only down side is lack of multi player on the wiiu or the lack of being able to connect to the PC version. Would be nice if the two kids could play the game at the same time.Edit March 2017 this game earned it last star from me... multi player is here. What I did was buy a second wii u and the two kids play side by side. They love it. Yes I had to buy a second copy, but we love our wii u and now the kids don't fight over the wiiu.A cheaper option is to buy a pro controller and a split screen versions can be played in multiplayer. I had to Google this... so it could be more apparent.Edit June 2017Also we got this game on the switch and the switch is the ultimate portable version of this game.

Similar Game with Additional Worlds
I purchased this for my son (age 7) as an "end of the school year" gift and he has really enjoyed it. It is very similar to the iPad app from a visual perspective, but offers additional "worlds" for them to explore, such as Halloween and Super Mario World. I like that this game involves some creativity and strategy - he has even read the mine craft books to learn how to build new/better structures. I do limit his time playing video games, but this is nice on rainy days or at night after a busy day to wind down. I would also recommend to any parent who actually wants time to use their own iPad :)

Perfect if you dont have another game platform or don't want to have kids hog your PC!!
Bought for my 9 & 5 year olds (mailny for 9 yo) who have begged me for minecraft but I don't let them put games on the PC and we don't have XBOX. Have had it for a few months and the still play whenever we let them. It seems to be a little different than the PC version as far as capabilities but they've never had anything to really compare it to so we are all very happy with the game overall. I WILL ADVISE YOU THAT YOU CANNOT USE TRADITIONAL WII/WII U REMOTES- YOU HAVE TO GET A PRO WII U REMOTE TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER!
