Eerotically artistic and liberating.

"Cecilia" is great in concept. It features a metric ton of full-frontal (and rear) female nudity and lots of sex. The icing on the cake is that it is beautifully-shot, with some of the best cinematography and framing of any movie that you'll see at any budget.But the problem here is that the lead character is not very attractive, and the sex, while thematically-unrestrained, is actually quite tame when it comes down to it. Lots of caressing and light touching but nothing that actually appears to be sex. And in fact even the kissing is demure.For a movie that's about sex, which "Cecilia" is, I'd expect more sexiness. The great camerawork and frequent nude scenes are all that keeps this from a two-star rating.

Somehow this flick managed into my collection. I have about 10 creations of Jess Franco and all of them don't go beyond 1 star rating. Yes, chicks are hot and you see frontal nudity often and that's how far we see anything. Supposedly rape scene at the start boring at the best and no violence or sex or private parts involved--lousy. The producer lost in advance and never manage to grow up in at least one movie. Setting is not bad and landscapes nice but they don't make movie. Supposedly main character is desperate but we never see any desperation and when I compare this flick to other similar nonsense called"Bocca golosa" by D'Amato where budget was around 2g D'Amato way above expectations. I always say-if you cannot finish don't start. Avoid.

it is not exactly French but it makes one think of the soft porn from there in the 80's. not a bad story and just enough simulated sex to want to pay attention.

Since one star is as low as I can go one star it is. This is a cheap excuse for an erotic movie. The acting is terrible and the plot or lack of makes watching this "film" a chore. There are scenes that start in night darkness go to full daylight and then back to darkness. I point that out only to show that no thought whatsoever went into any aspect of making this "film"

The 1st point to make here is that this product is not a Jess Franco film, despite appearing under a product search for Franco's films and having reviews for a Franco film on its page. That is annoying enough, given that I bought the film on the strength of those reviews. The product itself, however, is extremely poor quality; it appears to be a VERY heavily cut version of a late 80s US porn film (some of the 'stars' can be seen in films released by the excellent Vinegar Syndrome) that barely qualifies even as softcore. The cutting is clumsy (and thus obvious) and is compounded by using a split-screen and 'image-repeat' effect (of the sort popular on Top of the Pops in the mid 80s) whenever the camera threatens to go below the waste in the sex scenes. On top of this, picture quality is poor throughout and actually breaks up in a couple of places, betraying the fact that this has been lifted straight from a commercial VHS copy and not an original print. About the most erotic thing about this product is the cover picture, but on close inspection the small print on the back admits that the cover imagery is not from the film! All in all, this product, which is released by the seller quantumleapdirect who are thus presumably responsible for its creation from the original American film, is extremely shoddy and should be avoided at all costs, even given its low price. When you consider the bogus links to Franco (who is hardly up-market but at least has cult status) it becomes potentially fraudulent, but I accept this could simply be a mistake - I hope Amazon will investigate why reviews of a Franco film are appearing on this product's page and rectify the issue.

For a Jess Franco film, this one is quite restrained. Certainly there are the usual traits such as violence, nudity and sex scenes but these have been filmed in a rather tame way. The director uses the locations to give a lush expansive feel to the film: big houses, long corridors, big rooms, big beds and rich, lush gardens. The film is about Cecilia, a married woman who taunts her employees until one day they take their revenge. Cecilia though, further explores her sexuality, encouraging her husband until he finds it all too much. There is nudity and sex scenes throughout the film but always stopping short of hard core.The DVD reviewed here is NTSC Region 0. Aspect ratio is 1.66:1 and run time is 105 minutes. Image quality is good. There are English and French languages and optional English subtitles. Extras are limited to a trailer and a 17 minute interview with Jess Franco.
