Funny, feel-good, slow-burn romance!
Thoroughly enjoyed this story!"I fell in love with the voice in the dark. No joke, no exaggeration. It was a pure, raw love."Gaby Barreto has no boyfriend, no permanent address and no job. When her twin, Eli, badgers her to join a worldwide tour for three months with his band, she might as well go since there are currently no other prospects for her. When she finds out that they are sharing the tour with the headlining act, she's pretty cool about it until she meets Sacha Malykhin, the lead singer, in the most embarrassing way! However, the two of them gel pretty quickly and find themselves fast friends, although Gaby is crushing hard and working to accept that friendship is all they'll ever have between them. Or, is it?"You're an idiot if you think that you're no one special to me. You're the most special...The most."It's been a while since I've read this author. I've been waiting for some free time to read her back catalogue before I read the two newer stories, and I hadn't realised how much I'd missed her writing. This story was funny and sweet. I adored Gaby! She's kickass, pragmatic, fun and can hold her own with the boys. Sacha's character reminded me of the male lead in Lingus. He's a nice, genuine guy all around, kind of goofy, as well as hella hot! I was riveted to my Kindle, as I watched their growing closeness and saw things developing that Gaby couldn't see. They were so in sync with each other. I also loved the dynamic between Gaby, her brother and his two best friends. There were plenty of high jinks and very little mercy between them, but a tonne of laughs and camaraderie. This was fabulous feel-good read.

My kind of love story
If I could, I like to give it 4.5 stars. Taking half off for the ending. The ending is not as dramatic as soon of the events that happened in tour. Love them & can almost smell & feel the dirt!

New beginnings, music and slow burn 🔥
Be ready for the slowest burn EVER! Mariana Zapata writes slow burn like no-one else, there isn't even much tension for the first half of the book. The spice, even though only happens a couple of times right at the end, is really good. The over story was sweet, funny and addictive.LOVED the characters and their development too.Great narration on the audiobook.Free on KU and free audio book on catalogue plus Audible, but totally worth the purchase too.

An ok read but too immature and underdeveloped
Mariana Zapata is known for slow burn romances and this is no exception as nothing happens until about 85% of the way through; in order to pull off the slow burn you really have to develop the characters and I don't feel like she developed Gaby beyond her 'cool girl' persona. Another book by this author, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, gives a much better pay out for sticking with the it.Overall, some nice moments including a great representation of friendships and a few funny lines, but everything about it is underdeveloped and immature.

You cant go wrong reading this. Its just a lovely love story.
This is just a lovely read. Gaby is at her lowest after her bum of a boyfriend dumps her by phone just as she loses her job. So, with no home she is back with Mum and Dad when her brother invites her to do a tour with his band as their merchandising girl. She has know the members of his band for years and been part of their pranks, games and general fun. Her twin brother is forever teasing her and getting her to do things because he can. She meets the members of the other band and is in a state of wonder at the handsome leader Sasha. She really, really likes him but thinks she doesnt stand a chance. Sasha fancies her but decides to go slow after her break up and they become really good friends. The slow build makes it really good read just like all this authors books.

Another great read
Huh. I think this was the only book by the author I hadn't read and I believe it to be one of her first. It wasn't as long as some of her later books, and the ending was once again one of those that leaves it open without really getting a definite HEA. Don't get me wrong, they're together but we only really see it in the epilogue, instead of having that last chapter to bask in their finally-getting-together like in her latest books.I'm still going to read every book she fetches out.

Fantastic and Swoon-worthy!
cant get enough of Zapata’s books, the slow-burn romance is unbelievable and you can always count on laughing so much through the character’s banter that there is never a dull moment. This book makes you fall in love with the story and with the people in it, bus specially with Gabby and Sasha, their friendship is amazing and when you realise that the dreamy guy is actually head over heels for her and not just her friend and that all the little things were actually clues it brings a sense of exhilaration to the experience. Amazing book, the steam is out of this world and the writing, as always, is brilliant.

Perfect slow burner
This book is the perfect slow burner!Gaby joins her twin brother on tour. The banter between herself and her brother is amazing!! I loved how she was well able to hold her own! She could throw out an insult and take one just as well. The loved the relationships/friendships between all the guys! They are all basically a family! The chemistry between Gaby and Sacha is amazing. I loved watching them grow as friend's but also as individuals.

5 fantastic stars :)
This was my third book ever written by Mariana Zapata that I've read and it was yet another perfect argument to solidify my opinion about her being an absolute Queen of Slow Burn romance :) all of her stories are standalones, although you can find small, or not so small in some cases, references and connections to her other books in them :) but don't worry if you don't see all that, cause you are not reading them in publication order... I am reading them completely out of order and enjoying myself immensly :) so trust me when I say that this can be your first book of hers, and you will still have lots of fun :) so before I get into all the reasons why I loved this story, let me tell you a bit more about the actual plot and our main couple :)We meet Gaby when she's in a peculiar spot in her life... a few months ago her boyfriend dumped her so she had to move out of their apartment... now she's living with her parents, looking for a job... not the best scenario for a young woman who values her independence... so when her twin brother Eli offers her a job as a merch girl on the tour of his band, that also include Gordo and Mason, Gaby's other best friends (Eli obviously being the first one) she agrees pretty quickly... three months to earn some good money, travel and catch her breath... on her very first day she meets Sasha, the lead singer of the frontline band in one of the most original ways ever... and hilarious ones, that's for sure... I won't say anything about it, I don't want to spoil you the surprise... but trust me, it's good :) over the upcoming weeks they start to grow closer to one another... and a friendship slowly evolves into something more... :) *sighs dreamily* it was a really good book, ok? :) so instead of talking about any more details, which would totally spoil you some lovely things and generally ruin the experience, let me tell you all about why I adored this story :)I think that my favourite part about this book, were the relationships and connections between characters... :) and I am certainly not talking only about the romantic one between Sasha and Gaby :) don't get me wrong, their weird-friendship-slow-burning-into-something-more situation was cute and hilarious and just adorable :) but Gaby's bond with Eli... based on pranks and jokes, yeah... but also trust and standing up for each other... it had some weird parts that I will probably never really understand, because I have only one super awesome sister, and that dynamic is a bit different, but it was amazing to read :) add to that her other two goofballs and you have a clost-knit group of friends that will force you to endure stupid things, but they will also defend you till the end from jerks... :) I laughed out loud during their conversations many, many times throughout the whole story :) the romance part is done very subtly, like in all Mariana's books I read so far... it builds slowly, while Gaby and Sasha get to know each other more... spend more time together... :) and since slow burn is one of my favourite tropes in books, I always adore her stories... not only that, but her writing style is phenomenal... she has the incredible ability of creating unique and complex characters... not only the main ones, but the secondary ones as well... you feel like you know them... like they are real, and you just want to meet them and become their friends :) I would definitely love to jump on that bus tour and join them all for a little while... :) I listened to the audiobook version of the story and the narrator was really good, so I can wholeheartedly recommend that version of the book :) but it doesn't matter if you want to listen to it, read the e-book or an actual paper copy... whichever way you prefer I highly recommend you to give this gem a try... or any other Mariana Zapata's book really... her writing style is absolutely wonderful and you can't go wrong with her stories... so if this one doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then check out her other ones and pick one of them :) you cannot go any day longer without discovering the absolutely joy that are her books :)

A gem
I love Mariana Zapata's stories. They are slow building, letting the relationship occur organically, and the protagonists are always special in their own ways. Gaby is hands down one of my favourite character of hers, and Sasha is swoon worthy, the other characters are just making this story even better, funny and enjoyable.I've read it at least 3 times now and as it is with her other books, I still enjoy it as much as the first time.I highly recommend this book, and all her other.

So, so good!
Gaby Barreto has recently finished school, broken up with her boyfriend and doesn’t know what’s next for her. What’s next for her is joining the Rhythm and Chord tour as merch girl for her brothers band, Ghost Orchid. Ghost Orchid is made up of her twin brother Eli, and her other best friends Mason and Gordo. This is a friendship that’s spanned a lifetime, they’ve been together since kindergarten. She might be a girl, but with them she’s just one of the guys. Sacha Malykhin is the lead singer for the headlining band on the tour, The Cloud Collision. For months she tours with the bands, where she forms a friendship with Sacha that slowly over time develops into something more for both of them. It’s then and only then that they act upon their attraction and feelings. Her life is not easy being the only girl amongst the guys and being treated by the guys like a guy. But Sacha definitely doesn’t see her as one of the guys. Eli, Gordo and Mason are her partners in crime for life and love her deeply and have her back, but falling in love with Sacha brings her the kind of joy and stability that she needs.
