Best Toy Ever for my almost 2 year old
My daughter started playing with this when she was 22 months old and it has been a hit ever since. She is now 23 months and have played with this daily for over an hour each time, at least once in the morning and once after dinner. We actually have to take it away from her to make her stop playing with it after an hour and a half. I love that she's learning and improving motor skills by playing with this book. She loves doing the puzzles, completing the questions and tracing the numbers (though she has difficulty with the numbers 2 and 8, but heck, she's not even 2 yet so I'm not worried). My daughter calls it the "battery book" because it sure drains a lot of batteries given the amount of usage she's getting out of it and she requests for new batteries in less than a week. I started using rechargeable batteries because we were going through 2 AA batteries every 5-7 days. The only problem with using rechargeable batteries is that it doesn't warn you when the battery power is low - it simply dies, at which point, I'll hear my daughter yell "Mama, where is battery?!”

So so worth it. SO WORTH IT.
Wow this has literally been life saving. We can give it to our son after he was 1.5-2yo and he would just sit and play. I love how there isn't a screen too! It's just clicking and learning from books! When he's sick, we can keep him in his room and give him this leapstart pad and he just stays quietly, drinks his water, and plays with the leapstart! And if he gets bored, he just switched to another book. If you are on the fence, JUST GET IT.The only downside is that... The pain is not the most durable. But then again I don't think it was ever supposed to be sucked on by a 6 month old.... We are definitely replacing our broken one though and it's served us very well for the past 1.5years

Wonderful but not sturdy...
As a mom of 6 this is a wonderful teaching tool and entertaining for toddlers and preschoolers. My oldest is in college and these used to be so sturdy that I passed the same one down to 5 children. For number 6 I bought a new one since there are no more cartridges to keep track of. This is system 2 in alittle over a year. If it wasn’t loved so much I wouldn’t have purchased a second one. The pen stopped working after about 15 months of normal use. After talking to customer service there was no fix. So we are on to system 2. It is worth it though.

durability concerns
I really like this product but in hindsight i probably would go back and buy the newest version that is 'supposed to be more durable'. My 3 yo really likes this product and we took it with us recently when we flew over seas. We bought headphones and it did entertain her quite a bit while flying, which is fantastic. It was used a lot on our trip and we use it still at home. Only downside is that my toddler (girl) sometimes is not the most cautious with toys and she has dropped this a few times. After about the 3rd time the LF started to make weird sounds from being dropped. You can not shut it off using the button and it wont stop. You actually have to remove the battery to reset it. This is quite annoying and there is no guarantee it will start making the sound if it is dropped, it just happens at random. So I guess I have to put this up and monitor every time she wants to play with it or else carry a screwdriver with me at all times to stop the annoying buzz when it happens. I tried to exchange the product but it was over the 30days by the time we returned from vacation so we will have to make it work. I do really like the LF and the books are wonderful, so education and fun for my toddler. If it had not been for this annoyance I would gladly rate this a 5 star product.

Excellent gift
My four year old is wanting to read and this has been really nice. You can’t find the books easily in stores where we are located but we got several as gifts from others who got them easily on amazon. So when you order I would recommending getting the books you want so you have them. I gave it 4 stars for durability because the first one we got just quit one afternoon. It wasn’t dropped or gotten wet. It just quit. We got a new one right away with no issues and it has done well so far. The books also adjust in difficulty so as your your child grows the books do as well.

Educational and easy to use - 4yr old
My son (4 yrs old) LOVES this thing. He stays up playing with it at night, which I don't even mind that much because he is learning. The books that go along with the leap start (bought separately) are very educational. They not only have learning games but also teach reading skills. The games he does more so independently where as the reading books I give some guidance. I will say, to get the whole set up (leap start device and a few books) is a little pricey, but it makes for great gift ideas in the future (buying new books). We did think about getting a tablet but I'm actually a lot happier we took this route considering he already has a lot of screen time.
