Bug season! It’s a great time for you and your pets to be outside in the lovely weather, but you have to find a way to deal with the bugs. Bugs BeGone is a DEET-free natural insect repellent containing Amrita's own special blend of six different essential oils whose aromas are pleasing and attractive to humans, yet keep the bugs away. The main essential oil in Bugs BeGone is Eucalyptus Citriodora, or Lemon Eucalyptus, which has a fresh, sweet, lemon-like fragrance. Eucalyptus Citriodora is recommended by The Center for Disease Control as effective against mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus and ticks carrying lyme disease. The full list of ingredients in Bugs BeGone are: Water, Polysorbate, Aloe Vera, and essential oils of Lemongrass, Rosemary, Sweet Lavandin, Eucalyptus Citriodora, Peppermint and Catnip. Review: Smells nice, not toxic to dogs, works!! - I've used this 3 times on myself and my puppy so far, just around the yard while gardening but we live in Eastern Massachusetts and thanks to a warm winter we've already had loads of ticks. And so far no ticks since using this! Previously we were finding 2-6 a day on the dog. My 12 week old puppy is on NexGard but I wanted something to keep ticks from attaching in the first place, and much to my shock this seems to work. I tried a different natural product that didn't work at all (and turned out to have cinnamon and peppermint oils, both toxic to dogs), so I was dubious. But after romping around in the woody verge of the yard, digging through leaf piles, and burrowing into last year's tall dead grasses we're clearing out, the dog has had 0 ticks over the last few days. I will update if this turns out to be a fluke, but so far so good. The Amrita blend smells super nice and not crazy strong, and does not seem to make my puppy itch like the other natural stuff did. The mist comes out in a fine, broad, even spray with every pump so it's easy to apply. I just spray on my hands to transfer to her ears/face/paws. So far impressed and grateful to have found this. Review: Good Stuff! - I live in Florida where mosquitoes are a fact of life, but nonetheless annoying. I worry a LOT about having to give my 2 dogs so many "preventive" medicines found in vaccinations, heartworm meds and flea/tick meds. I've been using this for about a month, during the height of the mosquito season, and it works very, very well. About every other day, I spray just the smallest amount on their backs and shoulders, then use a microfiber cloth to spread it to their chest, head, ears, tail and legs to avoid accidentally spraying it in their eyes. I've actually seen flies and gnats hover around them and then fly away. They don't mind it one bit, and it smells really, really good. Considering it has natural bug deterrents like rosemary, lavender and citrus oil, it's something I can actually feel good about putting on my dogs, plus there's the added benefit of making them smell wonderful! I only wish it came in a larger size, as I have a Doberman and Lab. Will continue to purchase and recommend.

Smells Lovely, Slows Mosquitoes Down
The good: Smells lovely, makes mosquitoes think twice (but only twice) before landing, no greasy feeling, can spray on clothes with no staining, no horrible chemicals so no guilt swimming in mountain streams while wearing this. The meh: This spray did not stop mosquitoes dead in their tracks like nasty DEET. It did, however, slow them down enough that I could keep them somewhat at bay with the occasional smack and by spraying clothing, including my hat which kept them off my face. If you're a person who is eaten alive by mosquitoes, you might continue to look for a stronger formula. Mosquitoes will bite me but I'm not their favorite snack. I'm ordering some of the Repel Lemon/Eucalyptus spray to compare effectiveness.

If you love the scent of Citronella then you will like this. I don"t.
This newer version smells horrid! I will not buy again. If I had wanted to smell that bad, I would have bought Repel lemon Eucalyptus at Walmart for less. The original was very effective and had a lovely scent to it. This new version is repulsive. It will be effective, which is why I gave it three stars. Very disappointed in the new recipe, and no longer recommend this product.

This worked great for my 3 dogs.
amazing! I don't normally review stuff, but this was just to good not to! We have had rain daily, and the mosquitos are beyond horrible, you cant go outside with out flaying your hands about trying to shoo them away. So in turn, we were not having a fun summer, hit the trails and there were at least 30 mosquitos on two of my dogs, gnats driving my other dogs nuts, so I tried this, and was blown away! the mosquitos still hover but they don't land on them!! and we can actually enjoy the trails!! where you don't spray, they will land. I spray it onto my hands and rub the tops of their heads and ears for (avoiding eyes & mouth of course) they stay off my dogs! I have not been spraying myself just to see and they are all over me. One night I was not up for being bug bait, so I used it on myself (label says it can be used on babies) and rite away no more bugs in the face, in the ears, and biting me. I have not gone into the super deep woods yet, but I am sure I will, and I will re-review it then. but from 30 to zero! so far great!!!

Works Great to Repel Ticks
If you are looking for something natural to repel ticks, this is it! I live in central Virginia where ticks are really bad this year. Other natural sprays weren't working, and I was pulling at least one tick a day off one of my two thick-coated dogs (Chows), day after day after day. Since using this one, it has been ten days without a tick. Not one!! The spray comes out in a fine mist, so it covers a larger area than any of the others I've tried. Also, speaking as someone who is extremely fragrance-sensitive, the scent does not linger and does not bother me at all. The dogs don't mind being sprayed every morning before our walk, and it does not make their coat oily as I've read in reviews that some of the sprays do. As far as I'm concerned, it is a miracle.

It DOES NOT REPEL mosquitoes!
I've purchased both the one oz. concentrate bottles, and the larger spray bottles of this product over the past few years, and they worked wonderfully. However, after buying two spray bottles of this product, and two bottles of the spray for people (adults & children) for this summer season (2020), I have come to the conclusion that either they have 1) switched companies that provide the ingredients, or 2) something wrong/unintended happened in their manufacturing process. Why? Read on... ...because when I used it the day after it was delivered - spraying it quite liberally on my four dogs - then doing the same with the human version on myself, within three minutes I had FIVE MOSQUITOES land on my arms, neck and ankle. I killed two of them after they had bitten me, but managed to kill the other three before they could do likewise. Then I noticed more of them landing on my dogs, and NOT FLYING AWAY! Instead they were having a leisurely meal. I brushed/shooed them away, then went and got a bottle that contained a mixture of spearmint, peppermint & citronella essential oils (all of which I had mixed in with coconut oil & some witch hazel) and sprayed them with that mixture. Then I sprayed myself. Problem solved! I do not understand why this happened. As I wrote above, I've always had good luck with this product in the past. However, this time...well, I can't say what happened other than it FAILED MISERABLY! I'd like my money back, or some replacement bottles. Who knows, maybe it was just a fluke, a bad batch. Oh well...

Smells nice but doesn't work
I've tried this several times. I've tried applying more and more but it just doesn't repel bugs. I still get bitten by mosquitoes, gnats fly at me a lot, and I've had some type of beetle land on me a few times. Even if I keep spraying more, it doesn't help. Within less than 10 minutes of applying the spray, the bugs come at me.
