Data Science Uncovering the Reality

An affordable exposure to Applied Data Sciences
Got this over the long weekend for a quick read and this one lives to the promise of the titleCaveat- On a few occasions, the book went into technical details and had to google lot of terms to understand them. I also just skipped some paragraphs where many a technical jargons were usedBeing an IT consultant, i have worked on tech and data sc solutions as a service to clients. Not having the experience on the product side , the book gives a good peek into the data science application to problem solving in product tech companies.I have read lot of blogs on data sc and few books too but one front on which this one scores over other sources on the internet is its coverage of industry standards . Some insights will find a place in the future client conversations and projects - such as building own customized ML platform, focussing more on large scale data tools of apache, rigourous model monitoring etc.Definitely worth the time !

Useful read
I am professor of political science and use statistics, regression etc in my research work. I wanted to understand data science which has become such a buzz word. I read some blogs etc and found that data science is similar to the maths techniques I use except for the fact that it's more advanced. I read this book with the expectation to understand data science better. This book has covered lots of popular Indian companies like uber, swiggy, make mytrip which I use regularly. As a result I could actually relate to the data science applications in these companies from an end customer pov. However I was also hoping that this book could throw some light on depths of data science itself rather than focusing on just the applications and a career path to becoming a date scientist. Also there are few typos and errorsHence I give 4 star rating.

found some new perspectives on data Science
For 84 rs, this was a interesting read for me. Didnt know there were such complicated data sc problems in uber, swiggy, Jio type of companies which we use on regular basis. It took me just 1-2 hrs to finish the book.I felt the scope of book was a bit limited - expose readers to data science plus tech problems in the industry and how to become an applied data scientist. But guess that was the predecided aim of the authors.
