Hard Water Wellness Collection

This was my first time doing a hard water treatment and I'm extremely pleased! I have not dyed my hair before and had been noticing in recent months a stringiness in my waves. They weren't clumping well and my hair felt heavy even after getting a haircut (which is the before picture I used). When I was a child I had blonde hair that darkened as I grew older. I was shocked to see such blonde highlights revealed in my hair after using the Malibu C Hard Water treatment. I also found that my wave pattern went from a type 2A/2B to a 2C/3A because it became lighter after the hard water buildup was removed. Now, my hair is bouncy, swishy, and clumps beautifully! I knew I was dealing with at least 12 years of hard water buildup. So, I followed most of the directions as instructed except I left the treatment on for 20 minutes with a plastic shower cap and warm towel rather than 5 minutes. After washing with shampoo a second time followed by conditioner I used a deep conditioning mask for 15 minutes to ensure I didn't leave my hair dry. I then styled it using homemade flaxseed gel and diffusing. The before and after side by side picture shows my hair styled both times. The before was styled by my hairstylist after the haircut and the after was what I had styled with flaxseed gel (I hadn't scrunched it in that picture). The second after pictures is after my hair had completely dried and I scrunched out their cast. I'm still new to taking proper care of my wavy/curly hair. This was my first time ever having a hard water treatment and using a deep conditioning masque. Since, treatment my mom has commented multiple times about how soft my hair looks and now that it can effectively receive moisture it feels soft too! UPDATE: It has been just a little more than a week since the first treatment and I did a second treatment. Now, I feel like the hard water buildup is completely gone. I have added a picture of closeup comparison of my hair in direct sunlight before treatment and after the second treatment.

Works as advertised. My hair feels free of buildup. The caps on the product were loose but luckily I bought the set so it was packaged in a box separate from the rest of my order.

Since I abuse my coarse hair daily with a blow dryer and curling iron, I'm always looking for products to soften and restore my hair's health. After reading up on the problems with sulfates in shampoos, I thought I'd try a sulfate-free shampoo for the first time. They say sulfates, a detergent-like salt, are harsh for the hair and scalp and irritate eyes. They may even contribute to hair loss and permanent damage to eyes (not sure this is scientifically proven). This kit wasn't too expensive, and since I'm just testing products, I didn't want huge quantities to start. It was also recommended on a reputable website about haircare. This product claims to clean away mineral residue. I read that it is sulfates that create foam in cleaning products, including makeup remover and floor cleaners, so I expected little or no foam with this shampoo. But there was just as much as any other shampoo I've used. I don't know which ingredient makes this possible. My hair feels very clean after use. I was worried it had stripped off all of the oils, but after applying conditioner, my hair felt smooth and soft. The only big negative of the products is that they smell strongly like Juicy Fruit gum, and so did my hair, even the next day. Anyone who wears their own carefully selected cologne may not like the strong aroma. The conditioner is very light and seems to contain a lot of water. I had to use a lot of it to get through my long, thick hair, so I'd run out of it way before I'd run out of the shampoo. Perhaps it's better for short or thin hair. It didn't make my damaged hair feel soft enough, so I returned to using my Dove conditioner instead (conditioners usually don't contain sufates) . The combination of the Malibu shampoo and Dove conditioner really made my hair feel great. And the overpowering sweet smell I noticed before seemed to be tempered by the Dove conditioner. I also tried a packet of the crystals in the kit (100% vegan!) to remove hard water deposits, which it says to do once a week. You wet it and make a foam before applying to shampooed hair. It sort of fizzed, and it actually stung a little on my scalp. I had a little stuck to my arm, and it stung there too. It did seem to leave my hair feeling very clean, but I'm not sure I need it too often, since the shampoo is supposed to perform a similar function. I would buy the shampoo again, but I'll be trying other brands too. Sulfate-free shampoos tend to cost more than standard shampoos, from $10 to $50. My hairdresser didn't think they were any better, but I've noticed an improvement in the texture of my hair since using this Malibu shampoo. Update: I've also found Giovanni shampoo and deep conditioner works great and makes my hair feel even softer! The experiment continues.

I wish I could give this 100 stars. I've lived for 25 years with water that is as hard as water can be without solidifying. I'm also hypothyroid and my hair has been extremely dry and brittle all that time. I'd had no idea that hard water shampoo existed before I found this. I washed my hair with this last night, and INSTANTLY my hair was so soft and smooth, and it felt and looked beautiful. I'm nearly in tears about this miracle. If you have hard water I cannot recommend this enough. And here is a funny: a couple of times I touched my hair and felt that it was wet. But it was not damp at all. It's just that I'd gotten so used to brittle, damaged flat hair that I'd forgotten what hair should feel like. This product is AMAZING. Complete revival with just one washing!!!!! Sad update: after 3 shampoos, this shampoo makes my hair look and feel awful. My hair feels filthy after washing, and is somehow dry and greasy at the same time. It's never felt or looked worse in my life. If I could change this review to 1 star I would do so. Looked up on Google and apparently this pattern is typical for hard water shampoos. I very very much do not recommend.

I never thought I would write a review for shampoo/conditioner, but this one deserves it. I moved from a country with water I thought was hard to a country with water so hard we cannot drink it. My hair felt increasingly dry and awful. I tried moisturizing shampoos, hair oils, etc. Nothing made much of a difference. Then I stumbled on this one, and I kid you not, from the first wash my hair has felt softer and fluffier (I have not been able to get my hair cut in 7 months, so it might be TOO fluffy) I have naturally grey hair, which is usually fairly dry at the best of times and this had made it feel great. I plan to keep using this when I finally move somewhere with soft water and look forward to seeing what healthiness happens to my hair then. Cannot recommend this shampoo/conditioner enough

I tried this product on the recommendation of my hairdresser and I was not disappointed! I was very impressed that my hair/extensions actually stayed blonde rather than the awful pinky colour they usually go when holidaying in the sun! The products also left my hair feeling soft and in good condition. Would definitely recommend , especially if you have extensions and are going on holiday abroad.

This product saved my hair. I’m nearing 50 and our water is very hard. My hair has gone from brittle and dry to lush and soft. It’s a life saver really! I don’t use the powdered packets as I find it too harsh for my fine hair, but the shampoo and conditioner is wonderful. It has a soft, pleasant sent. It arrives in a bout a week from order date. I only wish I could buy the shampoo and conditioner separately.
