Nordic Ware Egg Poacher Microwave, 2 Cavity, White

This is AWESOME. So easy to cook a few eggs, so fast, so easy to clean up. I used to eat cold, hard boiled eggs for breakfast, but now I have just as quick a breakfast (okay, 50 seconds not as quick) that is hot. On cold mornings, it's nice. The hinge works fine -- just open it carefully. The top does lay flat, but you have to help it down. It takes no effort. For the people who complain...I can see how they broke it, but geesh, it's a plastic product with plastic hinges; it isn't a door with metal hinges! Just ease up. It takes getting used to a little bit to monkey with time for your oven. Because you put water in it to poach the egg, you have to "learn" what is water, what is uncooked egg white. They truly come out as poached, which means cooked in water. For the price, it can't be beat! Easy to clean, easy to throw in the washer -- but really, just a wipe out is clean enough (because you cook in water, nothing sticks). Recommended.

This is the second unit I have ordered, the first one was lost during a move. If you follow the instructions you will have perfect poached eggs every time. This is my method: spray both the inside halves with "PAM" cooking spray, put a pat of butter to each bottom on the poacher, give both the halves a liberal twist of freshly ground pepper and salt, the water (don't forget the water), and finally add the eggs and close the two halves together(See Cons.) Cooking the eggs requires some testing with the microwave wattage (750,800,1000,1200) and the size of the eggs. A couple of small eggs in a 1200 watt microwave for two minutes will yield some hard eggs, Whilst a couple of Jumbo eggs in a 750 watt microwave for two minutes will yield some soupy eggs. Cons: The HINGES are difficult to use: They are hard to put together yet fall apart at any given time. They are difficult to close and I always have a strong rubber band to keep the haves sealed. I have tried two other microwave egg poaching products; The big white egg poacher always gives me hard boiled eggs and it takes much longer at least 8 minutes and then you have to deal with the shell. The other product is something like Eggletts. You get 6 Silicone egg pods with lids. The pods need to be sprayed with Pam. You have to crack each egg into a pod and screw the lid on. Place the pods in boiling water, 8 minutes for soft boiled and 13-15 minutes. This product prep time is longer and it cooks in water I tried the eggletts once and several tops came off, it was was a mess. Bottom line if you like poached eggs that can cook quicker than your toast then the Nortic Ware product is for you.

This product works very well if you like a poached egg cooked so the yolk is solid. I prefer my poached eggs with a runny yolk, and microwaving the egg results in a hard yolk before the egg whites have cooked. I'm not faulting the designers of this product, it is very easy to use and clean up. I will keep this and throw it in my camping box for the next time I'm on the road, but it's not my favorite way to make a poached egg. I think the best way to use this is to cook an egg in a perfect circle, then lift it out and pat it dry and make a breakfast sandwich with ham/bacon and cheese on an English muffin.

OK, I have had this little doodad for a little over a year. I was looking for a quick, healthful way that I could prepare my eggs: preferably, in such a way that they would fit an English muffin for an "on-the-go" breakfast sandwich. I used it off and on, liking it, but also having a bit of frustration as I experienced the whole "sticking" thing that several other reviewers mentioned. Every time I used it, there was egg white stuck to the inside and I would have to rub and rub with the sponge to get it clean. A scrubby would have been faster, but I did not want to risk scratching the material and making my problem even worse. I did not want to try oil (again the "healthful" thing - also, if I did, then I may as well fry the eggs), I did not want to leave an average or negative review since there were so many peeps who did not have the problem. Hence, I figured it was operator error for me... and I was right. I started using this again, and have used it every day for the past two weeks. Up until four days ago, I had to allow myself an extra few minutes to ensure I had time to get it clean before leaving for work. The best day ever was the day that (when in a rush), I put a little more water on the "egg side" than usual. I did not take the time to dump the extra water and just rushed on through... then I bumped it as I was putting it in the microwave causing even more water from the other side to get added to the egg (I took the advise of other reviewers and when I only cook one egg, I always put water on the empty side). When I opened it back up, there was a perfectly poached egg - no egg-splosions, and nothing stuck to the inside... anywhere! I have repeated the same "mistake" every day since and have had the same perfect results. Happy Girl! Now just a quick swipe with a soapy sponge, a quick rinse and out the door. Had to hurry up and write the review to say how pleased I am!

Like: great for speed and a reasonable result (white cooked and yolk firm). 2 and 1 egg both ok. great for stopping exploding egg mess. convenient dislike: cant get white firm and soft runny yolk - even on the minimum recommended setting. suspect I need to play around with 80% or 50% power but takes a while and lots of eggs to experiment.

It does the job well. It took 3-4 attempts to figure out perfect microwave power and time settings as per my individual requirement. Once thats figured out, it’s exactly repeatable every-time. Also its easy to clean. My settings for two eggs from the refrigerator: 1 minute on 520W Stand for 30 secs 15 secs on 520W Stand for 30 secs 10 secs on 520W Stand for 60 secs Adding a little water as per product instructions, and standing times are important to get the perfectly cooked whites and soft liquidy yellow.

El primero fue un regalo, me costó 138 pesos. La persona a quien lo regalé quedó absolutamente fascinado por el tiempo que le ahorra. Entonces lo regalé a otra persona y me costó 132.13. Los comentarios fueron que es un utensilio muy simple y muy útil, que los huevos se cocinan muy bien y que ahorra todo: tiempo y esfuerzo en preparación y en limpieza. Ahora cuesta 121.50 ... La diferencia no es mucha y la verdad es que las dos personas están muy felices con sus regalos, por lo valió la diferencia en precios. Entrega: impecable.
