engaging illustrations, reasonably religiously literate
What I like about this book is that the one-page introduction, "What is Religion?" mentions several important tenets of religious literacy as described by the American Academy of Religion (AAR). Although other books on religions literacy do this better, this one does mention some important aspects of religious literacy, such as the fact that religions are internally diverse, and that religion is deeply embedded in most or all aspects of our human culture and life. The latter of these underscores the importance for all to be religiously literate, even people who self-identify as nonreligious. The book covers only five major religions, and doesn’t seem biased towards any one of them, giving the usual general description of each. The full-spread illustrations showing many different aspects of life within each religious tradition are engaging.

Great primer to religion
My nieces went to catholic school at a young and impressionable age. Many years later the family no longer practice religious traditions. To help my nieces be informed and non-judgmental about various religions I purchased this book to help them understand origins and practices of the major religions. The illustrations throughout are exceptional, especially the small scale on a large format book. It gives a sense of exploration and ahh-haa moments when you realize what the people are doing.

Lovely book with lots of fun facts
It's a great introduction to religions around the world for littler kids. We got it as a gift for our Godson's baptism, as we are not particularly religious but wanted to support his growth through his own faith. It's a nice introduction and a good book he'll grow into. We're actually going to get another copy for our own kids.

Great information...
The pictures in this book are very interesting and I felt like the information was very accurate. I appreciated the base level information and I felt like that was appropriate for the intended age group.

Missing a major belief system
This book is missing a belief system consisting of a huge chunk of the population - atheism.Atheists face a lot of stigma, which is something this book is designed to address.Children need to know of this option.
