This mattress promises a lot, delivers on most (but it may take a month or two before it breaks in)....
It's a lot of memory foam for the price, there are not many 14" fairly high density queen memory foam mattresses in the $600 price range. So I applaud the price and effort. The only mattress I can compare this to is my serta icomfort prodigy.Where this mattress excels so far ( I will review later if it changes)1) firmness, this mattress is very firm, for both memory foam. From reviews it was difficult to gage the firmness of the mattress, but I'd call it firm (not extra firm) and that means much firmer than average in the world of memory foam. Much firmer than the icomfort prodigy, and thus probably better for people needing firm support.2) Comfort, the mattress is almost too firm to give good comfort marks, I still wouldn't rate it as bad as some reviewers, just know if you buy this one it is firm not plush. However on the same note this mattress seems for be a little uneven, I'm hoping after a while it smooths out and comfort gets better but so far I don't like it compared to the prodigy we have3) Edge support, much weaker than the icomfort prodigy. I'm a large person so maybe I'm being unfair but I due to the unevenness above and the weak edge support I feel like I could roll off the edge of this mattress (not probably not an issue for single sleepers, but definitely something to be weary of if a couple is sharing the mattress)4) Odor, as others have noticed this mattress stinks, and for much longer than the 3 days sitting period recomended. It's been a couple weeks adn I can smell it every night, the odor seems to be seeping into our covers and pillows too now. I don't recall any odor with the icomfot5) Heat dissipation For a mattress called the "grand cool breeze" this was the biggest disappointment for me. The iserta prodigy is about the highest rated cool memory foam mattress. I have been searching for a cooler and firmer one and found the dynasty recommended from various sites. however I can clearly tell (at least in the first few weeks) that this mattress has terrible heat dissipation (if i get up to go to the bathroom, the mattress is still very hot in the spot I was laying minutes later). I'm getting a portable AC unit for this issue and others an upstairs bedroom have with heat, hoping it will solve both of them, but if not after another week or so this mattress is going to the guest room and I'm taking the prodigy back.at this point I'd recommend people stay away from this mattress, if they can't afford to lose $600, as the return cost for a mattress via freight shipping are very high so the 4 month guarantee is essentially worthless and you are stuck with what you get. If you can afford $600 need a big firm mattress (that will hopefully lose it's odor some day), and heat isn't an issue for you then give it a shotUpdating the review on 11/4/2014 the smell has finally dissipated, after a few weeks (not a few days as it suggests) The lumpiness of the mattress has smoothed out a little, and the edge support isn't quite as week. We are still having a heat problem. When we got this mattress we had a serta prodigy and kept the bedroom temp around 68, now since this mattress holds in so much heat and both my wife and I sleep very warm we have to set the room temp to 65 or lower. My is waking up hot a lot and we are about to give up on the mattress. It's a shame as the firmness, comfort, extra plushness, are all better than the serta but for us heat is the most important. Raising my review to 3 stars. Walking on the mattress to break it in multiple times is highly recommended. Giving it weeks to air out instead of days is also recommended. If you are looking for a truly cool memory foam mattress, I'm not sure they exist yet, the iserta prodigy is still the best in my book, but not extremely firm. One more update on 11/10/2014The mattress has smoothed out really well, no more lumpy feeling (walking on the mattress really helps), and even the edge support is stronger (similar to the iserta). Overall it is very firm and very comfortable, the foam is much more dense than many comparable models including my iserta prodigy. The heat retention is only an issue for a small number of people (usually under 10%) but it is an issue for us. To resolve we have a portable room AC (for other reasons too) and we turn it down an extra 2-3 degrees when we sleep. ***IMPORTANT you give this mattress weeks or a couple months before deciding*** But I have raised my initial review to 4 stars now. I'm still not happy with the heat retention but everything else is good.another update 12/10/14I have given up on this mattress, and it is now back in the guest room. Still think it's good for the money, but months later I can still smell a faint odor when going in the guest room, the edge support never really did match the serta and because of that I felt cramped sleeping with 2 people. Id say if you are getting this for 1 person it's probably 4 stars, but if 2 are trying to sleep in it I rate it 3 stars, it's not quite adequate (unless you are both small)update 7/9/15Well the mattress has been in the guestroom, my daughter in law, a friend, and my mom have used this bed. All of them give it 5 stars, odor is gone now, edge support is probably the most glaring issue (would make sleeping 2 larger people difficult) 2 tiny people might be ok. So it's not our primary bed but makes all our guests very happy and it looks like the price has come down a bit, I'll bump back up to 4 stars.Ratings are coolness/heat dissipation (D), firmness (A), Comfort (C) due to issues above, and Odor (D)

3.5 years in: STILL the best thing that ever happened to sleep
*** 3.5 year update ***I love this bed. It's still just as amazing as when we first got it. Moving this thing is a real b****, be prepared to heavily bribe your friends that help you move (if you move). It took 4 grown men to move this thing each time.3+ years in, same ikea frame, which does have a single leg that looks ready to give up. Not really fair to blame that on the mattress, it could also be from moving twice, or the fact it's an ikea frame. I know this frame won't be making the next move and I'm not mad. I've gotten my money's worth out of it. Even if it was the mattresses fault, the mattress is a much higher quality than the frame. No sagging, no dents or dips, no loss of volume, nothing weird. Still a perfect medium and still in great condition!*******(original post)Has anyone on here seen the 'Malcom in the Middle' episode where they find the new magic bed, but then reject it because they realize they are sleeping their days away and go back to their crappy mattress? This mattress, is the magic mattress that falls from the sky.... except I have not learned my lesson and I am keeping it!!! (Hal's Dentist - Season 7 ep 17).I have owned this mattress for just about 1 year now, and it is the single greatest purchase I have made. My boyfriend and I love this mattress so much, we joke that we will have to have a custody battle over it if we ever break up.Personal Background:I am a spreadsheet person. Before buying anything, I do extensive research and create charts, carefully researching my product. Now, I was extremely nervous to buy a mattress online, especially one that I would not be able to see in person first. I knew I needed to get a mattress that was a medium, I prefer softer that provides resistance (not too soft) and the boyfriend likes firm.I remember I was down to this and one other on amazon, I have looked everywhere on the chart, but it doesn't indicate what actually made me pick this one. I believe I was glamoured by the 14 inches... in my mind, even though this was advertised on the medium side, the extra size would make it softer, I know, I am a head case. So the box arrived. By the way, do not pick this thing up at an alternative location. I was moving, and it was going to arrive before I had the keys, so I had to contact the shipping people and have them hold it until I picked it up. I drive a Ford Focus (2009) and this thing only fit in my car thanks to sheer stubbornness and a window down. The box is huge, do not think it will go willingly into an average sedan. Also, the box weighs a ton. Since we picked up the box ourselves, we then had to carry it up the stairs by ourselves. It ships with prime, just let someone else to the heavy lifting for you. The box opened easily enough with a box cutter, removed the plastic, and yes, it smelled a little. We opened the window and let it rise while we unpacked the rest of the apartment. The smell lasted all of a week, and it wasn't unbearable by any means.Cue Present Day:This mattress sits on an ikea frame (something that initially made me very nervous due to it's size and weight, RECOMMENDATION: PUT IT ON THE BED FRAME WHEN YOU ARE LETTING IT GET BIGGER. We didn't build our frame until after we had the mattress out and fluffy and THAT was a mistake.).Sheets: I have YET to find sheets that will stay on this mattress. After realizing that the average sheet could not cover the sides, I went out at purchased some deep pocket sheets.... then some extra deep pocket sheets. The extra deep pocket sheets actually cover the entire thing, but I still have problems keeping the fitted sheet on it (maybe once a week I have to re-pull it down over the corners)Plush: It is a true medium plush. There is not so much "give" as there is support. Yes, if you sit on the edge it will give more then if you sit in the middle, but that is how memory mattress's work, if you don't like that, look at pillow-tops.This mattress is the best thing that ever happened to my sleep, and the worst thing that ever happened to my work punctuality. I don't ever want to get out of bed. We both avoid the bed until it is time to go to sleep, otherwise we will never leave it. Having a bad day? I think I'll go faceplant on the bed and just bask in it's awesomeness for a while. Even now, 1 year later, laying on the bed at the end of the day, we will both remark to each other about how this is the best mattress ever. Waking-up in the morning is a different experience, getting out of bed is terrible. I can't do it! If you are not a morning person this will only exacerbate the problem. My boyfriend, the morning person, now has to set 3 alarms to get out of bed and remarks it is the best sleep he has ever had.
