Procyon DeepVision Ganzfeld Display

Mind machines have been around for a long time. I bought my first one at Sharper Image in the early 90’s. The red LEDs within the early Ganzframes allowed me close my eyes to experience the Ganzfeld effect, providing just the right amount of neural noise to induce relaxation and/or trippy fractal-like sequences lasting up to an hour. But the LEDs were embedded in what appeared to be knockoff sunglasses frames, and I kept having to cobble everything back together with Sugru and duct tape when the lenses would snap at the nosepiece.The Deepvision goggles are a different breed altogether. The whole apparatus is much sturdier than those early frames. LEDs are projected onto from a depth of about 2cm onto a translucent white lens, allowing wide range of pulsing colors with eyes wide open. Design-wise they look like mini VR goggles but for a much subtler non-VR effect.The Procyon manual describes one of my favorite Ganzfeld sessions as “complex imagery, with an emphasis on Mandalas, vortexes, and spin-spaces.” I never quite vibed with neural noise of earlier Ganzframes that way. With the Deepvision goggles, everything seems to work as advertised.I only wish that I hadn’t let go the old mind machine which was elegantly made from a milled chunk of anodized aluminum—about the size of a deck of cards— instead of the plastic used nowadays. Hopefully that design feature returns one day.

These frames push the Procyon to its full potential and even beyond. I really can't explain the immersive hallucingoenic experience these induce but it's absolutely brilliant, beautiful, and at times ecstatic. I always wondered where are the experiential fractals and mandalas advertised as the Procyon experience: these no doubt step-up the Procyon's visual power past that threshold-- eg: the eyelid barrier and over dominance of red LED-- such that a hyperdimensional kind of visionary experience is induced that is on another level than anything I've experienced w/ these mind machines alone. I now use Procyon w/ the DVs everyday for a variety of things such as hypnotherapy, mediation, practical focus, and poetic inspiration.
