IF it fits & you have extra hardware...
Does NOT fit a Perception Conduit/Sport. Major cutting of thick aluminum would have to be performed to mod for a proper fit, but would render its mounted stability from a potential 10 to a possible 2. Engineering Measurements in the product description will likely help reduce mis-orders. Design quality is good, seemingly sturdy, too bad I couldn't try it out. You WILL need the following: Tension Spring (to encourage the skeg into a running OR retracted position); Rope Handles (would help but not required); Rope Guides (deck mount kit); Deck-Rope Keeper/Tiedown (to secure the skeg position). I don't know if the kayak this was designed for has all the hardware needed, from the reviews it would seem they do not, but this package ONLY includes the skeg, a useless piece of paper and the attached rope with carterized ends. I have to return it since it does not fit my boat :( Dissappointed - Please make a model that fits Perception Kayaks. Thanks!

Decent platform for custom installations
I was looking for a skeg for an older Kevlar Phoenix Vagabond, and this seemed the best candidate for the price. For people looking for a skeg (not a rudder) for an older fiberglass or Kevlar decked canoe, poke boat, or composite white water/ slalom boat, this could be a decent option. I wanted a really clean look; random brackets weren’t going to cut it. This installation would require a decent band or table saw, and a drill press, as well as woodworking/ fiberglassing skills at a minimum, but so worth the effort in my opinion. I used the skeg, rotated 90 degrees from its intended position, rope guide holes re-drilled, and attached to a fiberglassed block attached to the top stern deck. It works great, and looks great as well. My only gripe is that for the price, the aluminum blade was lacking good temper. It seemed almost annealed; it should NOT stay bent if flexed, rather spring back. Quite nice other than that.

Great accessory
If you have an Advanced-Element kayak you should really get one of these, completes the kayak. Tracking is improved to a great extent ergo efficacy of your strokes is improved and has pull cords to retract the skeg when approaching shore. You're missing out if you don't add this item to your kayaking adventures.

Skeg for Advanced Elements AirFusion Elite
I used the skeg with my AirFusion Elite for the first time yesterday and it works a treat. Previously when I went out without the skeg, whilst the AirFusion is faster then the other AE kayaks, I found it a little harder to keep on track, so the skeg is a very useful upgrade. Like all AE products it's well made and is fitted to the AirFusion in seconds. It would be useful to have some dedicated guides and tie offs for the control cords but I found that puting them through the D rings on the deck worked fine, so to sum up, if you plan on a long days paddling in the AirFusion then the skeg is a bit of a must have option, saying that it would be of no use in fast flowing shallow water but in most rivers and canals it will keep you nice and straight.

Fell apart after two weeks
Barely used this thing for two weeks after retrofitting my Old Town kayak for it. It worked well at first, that was until the primary bolt holding the skeg assembly together fell apart and slid out. The nut holding it in is not a lock nut and fell off in transit. I was lucky it didn't fall apart on the water and loose it all there. It's minor - some lock tite would fix it - but at the same time it's a 75 dollar fin... It shouldn't have this issue to begin with!
