Not the best in the series but good
3.5 Stars. This is the 3rd book in the X-Ops Series by Paige Tyler. This book centers around Declan and Kendra. I wouldn't start with this book in the series, although it could be read as a stand alone it isn't quite as good as the first or second books.Kendra is finally going out into the field in what is supposed to be an easy mission that is low risk. She's excited to be finally getting a chance to prove she can be a good field agent. Declan is on the team going out with Kendra and a bear shifter that has finally given up on Kendra. He has had a thing for her for years but she never wanted him back and after years of asking her out and getting turned down he has finally given up. Kendra had a crush on another shifter for the past few years and finally went out with him a couple of months ago only to find out they had zero chemistry and the night didn't go all that well.Of course the simple, low-risk mission turns out to be anything but and Declan and Kendra are quickly separated from everyone else and on the run from hybrid shifters. I appreciated that they didn't just jump into a relationship and sex since they had issues to work through and really after having ignored the guy for 7 years it shouldn't be that easy to convince him you've changed your mind. Declan also had to work through some issues he has with being a shifter. I really like that this book doesn't have "fated" mates. It's nice to see couples coming together and getting to know each other and finding love not just instantly looking at each other and going bang that's the person for me and jumping right into sex and a relationship.I also liked that there are no “fated mates” which sometimes feature very heavily in shifter stories; having characters who have to learn to like and love each other makes them more human, and I prefer that to characters who stare into each others eyes for a second and then bang in the next scene, without a good explanation other than fate.I've read the previous books and yet I still had trouble remembering exactly who was who in the book. Between the shifters that we didn't really get to know in the previous books and the special ops guys I had to keep stopping to remember if he was a special ops guy or a shifter or a human who works for the DCO.The plot was okay but nothing too earth shattering and although there were a few key points at the end that were about the continuing storyline throughout the series there wasn't a lot. Nothing really happened in this book that was really important and although I liked Declan and Kendra's characters there just seemed to be something missing between the two of them.I hope the next book answers more questions on the overarching plotline in the series. This one was good but not great. I do however look forward to book 4 and will read it.

The couple I wanted to read about from book 1 didn’t disappoint.
I was very intrigued by the possibility of Kendra and Declan getting together from book 1 in the X-OPS series. Their tale in this series ended up wonderfully - worth the wait! Declan’s backstory and struggles really tug at the heartstrings - I legit was tearing up reading - while Kendra’s regret over rejecting him (repeatedly) is palpable. Mutual pining is a delicious romance trope that I adore. Paige Tyler wrote a great build-up to the sexy times and a glorious pay-off. I teared up again at the third act misunderstanding. This story deftly balances both individual character development and relationship-building along with propelling the plot of the series. It’s a third-person romance with switching perspectives (my favorite kind of romance story), but the switches never felt jarring to me. Words of caution, there are a *lot* of character perspectives (more than just the two leads), and it is very much a piece of its series. I recommend reading the prequel novella (Her Secret Agent) before this one. There is minimal cringe-inducing language. I only wish I could spent more time with Kendra and Declan (hoping to see more of them in the subsequent books)!

Action-packed and emotions run deep. This is one great read!!
Kendra has put Declan off for years. After a disastrous date with Blayne, who Kendra lusted after for years, Kendra decides that maybe she needs to give Declan a chance. Declan has finally taken the hint and for the past couple months has avoided Kendra. Kendra realizes that Declan is avoiding her. Kendra has also been trying to get field experience and John (her boss) has decided to give her the experience she so desires by sending her on a training exercise with Tate’s team. One problem, Declan is part of Tate’s team. This book packed with keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat action. When Kendra and Declan get stranded in the jungle together, the walls Declan has built to protect himself from Kendra (and the world) start to crumble. Watch out! It gets flaming hot!! This easy read can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the series. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

The entire series will hold you hostage
I will say the same about this entire series... WOW, WOW, WOW... I normally do not like paying $6 for books.. these are worth it..So well written and all characters are in every story. Although the story will focus on 1 or 2 main characters / couples in the story, it moves smoothly and you get to see others come and go in the stories. The series has an underlying enemy that continues through out the series. It is like the original story never ends.. but takes twists and turns and each character gets their time in the spot light..I can't put them down...

A Must Read
Another page turner that keeps you glued to the story. This X-OPS series book is about Kendra & Declan. Two lonesome people who finally find their love. It's a gripping story which brings all the series characters to life again. Something is going on which can upset the whole DCO. Action, mystery, romance, special forces and a dangerous Costa Rican jungle mission. You have to read this. You will be pleasingly rewarded.

Her honey bear
When an op in South America goes wrong things start adding up and it's decided there's someone trying to engineer hybrids and the DCO operatives were used to test them. The rescue mission is kept offgrid and extra people are brought in to assist. Danger levels are high, only certain team members can be trusted and in the midst of it all, another pair discovers love.

So entertaining!
I am predisposed to like Paige Taylor's novels, and this one did not disappoint me! Stuck with office work while the agents around her go into the field and have amazing adventures, Kendra was finally allowed to accompany the team. Once in the jungle, the team is attacked and divided, and Kendra is left with Declan MacBride, one of the agents who is bear-shifter, to protect her. It is a wild ride, and I enjoyed every page!
