This series, by Scottish author, Alex Gray, take place in Glasgow. Detective Superintendent Lorimer has just started a new job, and he is going to have to get to know the new crew with whom he will be working. This crew is at the call of every division in the area, called in when any serious crime has occurred. The serious crime in this case, is the death of two men at railway bridges. It seems a tenuous connection, but it is only the beginning. Of course, Dr. Solly Brightman will be called in to provide psychological insight, and Lorimer's wife, Maggie, will be called on to be forgiving when work draws him away from his family. A fabulous read; Gray has a real understanding of human foibles.

I liked the book so much-plotting was so very well done, and the characters are also done perfectly imo. I do like DS Lorimer so much, and his wife, his work crew, his psycologist friend Solly. What a good plot, so intertwined, making me guess and wonder and so many layers! Good book!
