More bang for your buck! Refurbished.
I "ride my laptops" 'til they drop - keys fallin' off, not enough RAM for today's software etcetera so it was time to find another workhorse. I asked AI to find me a laptop under $300 that could run a number of cloud applications like Adobe Creative Cloud smoothly and it recommended a few closer to $200, all refurbished. I jumped on the Thinkpad and so far I'm happy as can be with its performance. Especially compared to my tired HP although the HP served me well for around 10 years, it was time to move on. In fact my last 3 laptops have been HPs and 1 Mac as a tester. Bottom line, I recommend more bang for the buck, (refurbished & cheap), as long as it has the RAM and clock speeds to run whatever you're running. I love this Thinkpad! So far so good!

Amazing refurbisher
I've never had such a pleasant experience with a refurbished computer. This laptop feels and smells (I'm weird) brand new.I was expecting to have to sanitize and clean this machine but I was wrong.I wasn't expecting a back lit keyboard or a touchscreen display but it has that.It also has a sticker on the bottom that has Microsoft authorized refurbished on it as well as the box it was in.The Thinkpad T480 is one of the best laptops made by Lenovo. This machine has upgrade-able RAM, storage, and battery. They are super easy to replace. All you need is a screwdriver. This is one of the last laptops that can be user serviced. On top of that I run Linux on it and everything works out of the box.I dual boot with Windows 11. You heard (read?) that right! It's compatible with Win 11.If you're planning on using Linux on this machine just make sure you update the thunderbolt firmware with Windows. I'm not sure if the refurbisher has already done that (given the quality of their service they might have). It's a nasty issue that if left unpatched will render the port unusable. You should also do the other updates such as BIOS, firwmare, and other recommended updates before getting rid of Windows (I would dual boot just in case there are other updates).Lenovo hasn't stopped the updates for this PC. A new BIOS update was released just a few days ago. This is a great laptop at a great price. Grab it and you will not regret it. You can't find a better machine at this price point.

Pretty good for what you pay for!
Pretty good laptop for what you pay for! I bought the one terabyte storage and definitely recommend that if you’re looking into playing games or running blender and unity. Bought this mostly for 3d modeling through blender and unity and it runs them both pretty smoothly. Higher fps games are a bit slower on it though especially if you have a browser window open. It was pretty easy to setup out of the box and was well packaged. There were some scratches on the laptop itself, but it doesn’t affect how it runs, so I’m not complaining! It’s pretty heavy though. Keyboard is pretty quiet and is backlit. The battery runs out pretty quic (though it’s refurbished so I’d expect that) so I’d recommend this if you have constant access to a charger and outlet. There’s no touch screen on it, but that’s not what I bought it for. Fans are loud asl and turn on even running one window.+ fast, lots of storage, well packaged, quiet keyboard, backlit, fingerprint reader, runs blender and unity excellently- heavy, short battery life, can’t run higher fps games or multiple windows, scratches, loud ass fans, randomly shuts off sometimes

Disappointed in my purchase
While this computer at the moment may still be functional. It is becoming obsolete very quickly and slow to process information. The item was purchased as a used item and it stated to be refurbished, but if I had to do it again I would consider purchasing a laptop with parts that are much more up to date. This year make and model, with the options it come with is at this point slow to respond, gets the circle of death and stuck for long periods of time and more often than not, has to be restarted to make the programs start over and continue to function. If given the opportunity and option I would send it back and get the lates and greatest and simply bite the bullet with an up to date laptop even at a much high cost. This computer is being used for business purposes only and to program and check vehicle readings like error codes. At this time the computer does work but it very obvious that it will need replacing very soon.It is no longer worth purchasing. The computer does have some wear and tear even thou it’s refurbished.Eddie Nieto

College ready
I love this laptop. For 200 this is a steal, I really didn't even know it was touch screen until a month later and it made me love it even more. The touch screen only uses your actual fingers and not a digital pen, this is not a tablet. I use it as an additional laptop to my main one. Basically, I use this laptop for school going from class to class because A) its light, B) If it gets stolen it was only 200 c) The specs are good for its price. I am a junior physics major who uses it for coding, school work, and circuitry. The only downside is that you would need to change the battery(Dont have to change it at first, still works with what was given but you would get more life if changed). But really compared to the other options this I found was the best after weeks of research for a cheap laptop. The battery can last up to around 2 hrs 20 min Id say if put on lowest performance. It works fine if you have it connected to its charger(Usb C), which most classes have. Good space if you only use it for school work, Have not tried gaming on it other than chess.com mainly because I have a better pc for that. Would highly recommend it if you are on a budget. Runs windows also.
