Decent little heater
This is a decent small heater; I'm happy overall with my purchase but would still consider alternatives if I had to buy another one. As others have said, you have to be right in front of the heater to feel much heat. The heat level is not adjustable; it's just on or off. I bought this with the roll cage and it works well enough sitting directly in front of myself and one other person. Unfortunately, it mounts annoyingly crooked inside the cage and isn't adjustable. It was also packaged poorly and arrived floating around completely loose inside the box, but thankfully wasn't damaged.

Heat Storm
Mine worked for 3 months then stopped powering up. I'm going to return it for an exchange & I'll update as soon as that transaction is done. As others have said it's not terribly hot unless you're close, but the space I need warmed is very small so I don't care.

Unsafe product breaks after 3 months - Looks decently made - but a real letdown - although hard to expect more for $100.
The element on this product is small - roughly 18 inches in length. This is not a heater for two people. The presto heat dish I had failed after 1 year, so thought I'd give this a try mounted on my ceiling. AMZN's website indicates the product can be mounted on a ceiling, and that may be so, although the on/off switch (rocker type with rubber cover) is on the heater itself rather then near the plug (which is attached to a 15 foot cord). The instructions are well written and it appears the product is US made. Mine came in a ripped box (looked like a repackage) and the stainless steel grates were bent. AMZN also did a poor job of packaging the product (or whoever shipped it - bunch of fail there). Also the heat is quite anemic although for Phoenix it should be good enough for the winters. I have read other reviews which say the bulb life is short. For $100, I had to try as my DCS outdoor gas heater consumes 250$/mo worth of fuel, while this consumes about $30/mo worth of electricity. Its a real shame 120v only carries 1500 watts. I feel like I am going to be forced to run 2 240v runs to my backyard patio to get a proper heating solution that doesn't break the bank on a monthly basis during the winter months. Would be nice if gas was available in my neighborhood. Oh Well!Really disappointed, however, I'm going to give it a try with the tripod they sell with these things. If that doesn't work, running 2 240v runs and installing dual 3000 watt electric heaters.Update: I bought the tripod and am more pleased with this device now. Without the tripod, this thing is worthless as it can't mount on a ceiling unless your ceiling is 7 feet tall. The tripod is really nicely constructed and I will be giving that 5 stars. Overall its not perfect, however, again for the price can't expect perfection.Update March 19th, 2017: - Originally rated 3 stars, then 4 stars after enabling the tripod, now 1 star. Broke after roughly 3 months of usage. It broke in such a way as I thought it would start a fire. This product is unsafe. Fortunately my breaker blew before it caught fire. There is no water source nearby (Arizona...) and the temperatures are relatively mild so no major temperature swings. AMZN's website lists this as "3 year warranty" - well I'd like to know how to get advanced replacement warranty service. I don't have any idea how to get warranty service. Now I am stuck with a broken heater, and broken tripod, and 150 bucks wasted. I spend 20k+/yr on AMZN and this is one of the few times I've ever rated anything 1 star. Enjoy.

Good product in close proximity.
I bought a used one which was basically new. Mounted it to my camera tripod with a bit of mcguyvering (removed original turn screw as it was too short, replaced screw and added plastic knob nut for easy removal). Allowed us to be outside when a chill would have had us leaving the patio earlier. As others have said, these radiant heaters warm things in front of them, nothing else. So you have to be pretty close and directly in front to feel much. Fine for us. Will buy one more for another pair of people. Each one requires a separate plug on a separate circuit as 1500 watts is basically the max wattage on a single circuit.

Outwardly this works and fulfills my expectations for a silent IR heater for my work space. The wall mount is simple and works fine, the cord is ample at 12' and very well suited to the appliance. the black foam backing pieces to protect the lamp need to have labeling showing that they are to be removed. Aside from a well built wall mount, the unit itself is very flimsy and the ON/OFF switch feels cheap. At $89, it is still 4X less than the IR heaters I see for sale at Home Shows that have the same 1500 Watt IR tube. For heating and doing its job, it's a "5" as to its construction, once mounted will likely be OK, however there is nothing that that makes me consider this to be "shop tool quality"

Not so tough little heater.
Unfortunately, I have to add to my initial review that it quit on us after the 3rd month. We have been using this on our patio for the past couple of months, through temps down below freezing, rain, snow, wind, etc. Our patio is covered and we have a wind break set up around our little table area but otherwise it is open to the elements and this little heater keeps it bearable to spend time out there. Don't stand too close though or your pant legs will get too hot!

Eh....
The instructions say that it must be mounted at least 6 ft above the floor, but since you can only feel heat from it within a couple of feet, at that height it doesn't really do much. Not suitable for our needs.
