I can’t believe I left this book unread for so long
I had this book on my shelf for well over a year before I picked it up. Not because I didn’t want to read it, I just have a million other books also on my shelf. 😅Needless to say, I am SO mad at myself for waiting so long to read A Fate of Wrath & Flame. I devoured this book in 2 days and immediately started the next one.To learn that this is the author’s debut into fantasy is also mind boggling- the world she created was so well thought out and described in enough detail that I very rarely felt lost in the world building.I loved the way we find out about the world alongside Romy as she is thrust into Islor. It was such a unique mechanic to take her from our world and thrust her into a fantasy world she has no clue about. And Zander. 😍 I absolutely adored this man and the struggles we see him going through during the book. I cannot wait to see more of him in book 2!Fair warning-This book is low spice, but steamy. Honestly though, it worked for the series- romance is very much a side plot in this book.Speaking of, this first book is a lot of world building and court intrigue. It is a fantasy and I can definitely see this being a set up for more action to come in the later books.I am ABSOLUTELY hooked by this series and cannot wait to continue it!

Recommend if you like Romantasy books!
This books is one of my favorites of 2023 so far. The world building, the characters, the plot, everything about it is engaging. The plot twists were unexpected and kept me guessing about where the author would take us next. I cannot wait to read the second book!

Loved it! Great fantasy romance
4.5 ⭐️ this is my first time reading KAT. And I throughly enjoyed A Fate of Wrath and Flame. I understand this is not her typical genre, but she nailed it in so many ways! I’ve read through a lot of the reviews on here and can see why some didn’t care for the book. Yes there are a lot of info dumps and not a whole lot of action. But it’s the first book in the series. I tend expect first books in a series to lean more that way, so I wasn’t disappointed at all. I didn’t find it boring like come claim. It was well paced and very well written. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, the world building and learning about the magical realm Romy finds herself thrown into. The story centers around Romeria, a highly skilled thief living in NYC. She works for a crime boss stealing jewels, after having to carve some sort of life for herself after being homeless for some time. Romy and everything she knows to be true comes into a puzzling question when she finds herself thrust into a realm of magic and elven she knows nothing about. Now under the forced employ of Sofie, she is tasked to find a stone from Islor’s sacred garden with no one discovering who she actually is bc that would guarantee her death. Romy’s new identity is that of Princess Romeria from Ybaris. Unfortunately for Romy, Princess Romeria has just poisoned the king and queen of Islor on the night she was to marry Prince Zander. Once her fiancé, Prince Zander understandably loathes Romy and has her thrown in a tower cell with plans to execute her the next morning. Romy has no other option but to play the role she’s been forced into and she does it well. She takes Sofie’s advice and becomes more useful to the now King Zander alive rather than dead. Zander gives her a choice, help him to figure out who is plotting against him along with the Ybarians. Romy agrees to help King Zander, while also trying to figure out how to complete her mission of stealing the stone and trying to get back home. The story that unfolds is full of secrets, deception, paranoia, trust building, politics, romance, huge revelations, and betrayal.

Very good start to the series!
Strong narrative, loved the writing style with the story told from the main character's perspective. Great cast of characters and the action had me itching to see what would happen next.Loved Eli and Zander are great. Zander is just, ugh. Love him. So feisty and humorous. He wants the best for his people and I admire the bravery it takes to buck the system. His love for Romy is real and deep. Despite the endless trouble she gets him into he admires her for her heart and the empathy she feels for others. The scene where he begs her not to fool him again??? Whew. Also there's A little spice in this book. I wasn't expecting it but I appreciated it lol The only complaint I had was that our leading lady has a great sense of right and wrong but no plans on how execute her vision and it puts the MMC in difficult positions often. Doing right is great but she seemed to do things in the heat of the moment because it was right and often left him to deal with the repercussions. Even though she knew the political headwinds he was facing. also her being mad at him at the end annoyed me. You don't get to be mad when you've been keeping secrets the whole time. For those reasons I took a star off.Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I plan on reading the next one. We left our leading characters in quite the quandary. Glad book 2 is already out!

But I did. It’s so addicting ! It’s a thick book and I swallowed it quickly because I couldn’t put it down ..The plot is very interesting, though, I can’t say easy, there were a ton of informations about the politics, the differents entities / gods .. it was a little overwhelming at some point but I’m exciting to read the rest , and how everything will unroll. The romance was definitely at the backseat, I’m a romance type of girl, so I missed it and was frustrated. It’s not an adult romance , I think we need to point it up that the steam is super light, close to upper YA. But it was sweet and full of emotions.I loved her, she is feisty, stubborn, headstrong, loyal..I fell for him, even if more possessiveness would have been welcome .. I wanted to see his walls crumble to ash. The dynamic between Zander, his personal guard/ friend and Romy are close to FBAA.She putted a lot of details in her books, she created a complex world with an interesting plot.. this book deserves to be knows. We saw the plot-twist coming from miles away.. but i liked it anyway.

Two worlds
This book transports you to a world of fantasy and elves. It’s written in a way that makes you believe it could be real, while also putting you in a world that sounds impossibly interesting. It’s hard to put down, and difficult to stop thinking about.

Interesting Characters
I had heard so many good things about this book that I had to try it. At first, I was a little wary of the story since it didn’t match with the blurb as the prologue is quite different but is nonetheless important as it sets the base for the journey this book contains. I’m glad that I got myself stick to it reading to unfurl the twists and turns this beautiful world has. The plot is unravelling and feeds perfectly into my enthusiastic mind. It’s a fantasy world I have not read about before and I enjoyed the bits of action happening, a little too much to my liking. I laughed at the banter, it was saddening at many turns but the interest was full on behold. In the beginning, I had many questions and a lot of descriptions and cryptic messages were there, that part was slow but it was full of curiosity. The best part of the story started for me when everything started getting settled in and the puzzle pieces were getting fixed. I was totally in awe of it.The writing is very detailed and has everything you can to make your mind work for different theories. I’m definitely going to look for book 2 now since it’s out already.

Everything I needed
First I should say that I read many books of this genre because I LOVE IT. However, this also means that wishing for more high quality content often leaves me unsattisfied in the end: Some books are way to predictable others are simply not catchy and even great books are often too short so that they dont last long enough with me.This book has probably been the tenth book I read in these hollidays and it really gave me everything I needed: A main character who might be stubborn but not in a stupid way, a story that surprised me and even though the main character is introduced to a completely different world, didnt become boring because of too long explaining sessions. I was sooooo delighted that it also lasted long enough for me to really dive in to it on more than just one day.Really, there was only one thing that I really hated... that the second book isnt out yet!!!I will definitely buy the second one and hope for it to be just as good as the first one was!
