These were a really fun addition to our wedding reception. We had an open bonfire, and the kids and adults really enjoyed throwing these on the fire and watching the flames change colors. We DIDN'T read the fine print, our fault, where it warns against roasting marshmallows or consuming anything roasted over the flames until a few smores were eaten. There were no immediate effects, no one got sick. We just realized it later and wished that would have been a little more obvious on the packaging.

I bought this for when my grandchildren came over and it was fantastic! My husband was concerned because he said it could only be used outdoors but our downstairs is well ventilated and it worked out fine! We made sure the fire was going and what smoke there was went right up the chimney before we added the packet to it. Once it was added though there was no smell or any reactions to anyone present. We still opened the door to let in fresh air but only for a minute since it was so cold! I also did not see any warning on the description that it should be used outside only so I thought we could use it indoors as long as the room was well ventilated.

After reading several reviews about how short lived the color was, I was somewhat apprehensive to try them but my first experience was great. I only used one packet in a 36-inch fire ring as a trial and had great results, The blues and greens were spectacular! and they lasted nearly half an hour. I also learned that when they start to fade to stir the fire a bit and little more color will dance in the flames for you! Now I can't wait until my grandkids visit so I can put two or three packets in my Solo stove which should produce quite a show.

Used this on a small fire at the beach. Just threw it right on and it started working immediately. Mostly green blue and purple. I suggest throwing in the middle otherwise you won't get the full effect. Big hit with the preteens, kids, and adults. Not sure about roasting marshmallows over it though. It didn't spread too much further than the size of the packet. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

When you throw the packet in the fire, it takes a little bit of time for the packet to melt or catch on fire and when it does finally do so, there is a little tiny section that has a colored flame and you really have to look for it. And doesn’t last very long. You would have to throw five or six of the packets in the fire if you want it the whole bonfire to have colored flames. Our bonfire was not that big so I was very disappointed.
